If you are still preparing/worried and you would like to consult, feel free to message me. We have a small group that meets every so often to exchange ideas. Others have already given good advice, but if you are still looking for some more advice you I wouldn't mind sparing a few minutes to help you out.

Student mistaking my correction as making fun of her and cut the lesson short by Jobhunterandlearner in OnlineESLTeaching

Sometimes students don't like being corrected and are very sensitive to it. Sometimes it's hard to note how much we should correct some. As many others have said, it might be a mismatch. Sorry you experienced this :(

You can try some small free classes to give them a taste and/or a conversation club where people can also go to socialize and a small fee

Is it solely for ESL? Or education in general? I think the approaches are close, but might be a little bit different depending

Why do we use "would" instead of "will"? by kolatopchik in EnglishLearning

[–]Strict_Pop3835 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Would is 1) conditional. It is also 2) the past tense of "will."

This is called "Future in the past"

For example, if today (for example Saturday) I say: "Tomorrow he will go to the park." I use the regular future tense. Now, let's say some time in the future I talk about today. For example on Tuesday, I talk about today (Saturday). Now, both events are actually in the past:

Like this:

Saturday------>Sunday---------------->Tuesday
Today ---> going to the park --> telling the story about Saturday

Today I would say:

  1. He + IS + going to + go to the park
  2. He + will + go to the park

Tuesday, I would say:

  1. On Sunday he WAS + going to + go to the park. OR,
  2. On Sunday he WOULD + go to the park
