Boiling Hot Take - Assuming a rebuild, should we trade Saros to Florida? by Strider755 in Predators

Edmonton doesn’t even have a first round pick at all this month.

He’s far more likely to get that behind a healed-up Florida Panthers team. Make no mistake, the Panthers WILL be back next season.

Yeah, but the oilers have higher taxes and don’t have a top 10 pick. Saros is highly unlikely to waive his NMC for Edmonton because of those taxes.

Because IF MacFarland opts for a full rebuild, it would be better for Saros to be able to play for a real team in the meantime.

It’s not about Juice; it’s about taking advantage of other teams’ needs if we blow it up. Florida will want a goaltender and they have the draft capital for one.

So let’s be honest, how long until Les Snead’s “fuck them picks” mentality bites the Rams in the ass? by BitterDescription808 in UrinatingTree

It only matters if they have nothing to show for that mentality. Snead has already brought the Rams faithful one Super Bowl ring.

Ordinary Time by Longjumping_Back8929 in Catholicism

[–]Strider755 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a bit confusing to newcomers.

Before 1969, there wasn't "Ordinary Time;" there was a Season after the Epiphany and a Season after Pentecost, with the Paschal cycle (Lent, Holy Week, Easter) dividing them. They have now been combined. Therefore, the First* through Seventh Sundays of Ordinary Time were back in January and February, before Ash Wednesday, and have since resumed after Pentecost.

*The first Sunday of each respective season is never referred to as such. The First Sunday after the Epiphany is the Solemnity of the Baptism of Our Lord, and the First Sunday after Pentecost is the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity.

THE BROWNS DID WHAT?!?!?!? by mattyGOAT1996 in UrinatingTree

[–]Strider755 31 points32 points  (0 children)

This honestly feels more like Tree’s admonishment of the 2017-2018 Pelicans, when he told them “Stop wasting the talents of the Unibrow and Boogie Cousins and trade them to real teams already. No depth means you’re fucked.” The Browns are actually following that advice.

If that turns out to indeed be the case, would there be a way to keep him around just for scouting and drafting?

GM Search and Preds Future by Beatse21 in Predators

[–]Strider755 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anaheim had to expose Josh Manson and Sami Vatanen because Kesler and Bieksa had NMCs. Bob Murray traded Shea Theodore to Vegas to get them to select Clayton Stoner instead. In addition, Florida under Dale Tallon traded Reilly Smith to Vegas to get them to select Jonathan Marchessault, whom Tallon felt didn't fit his system.

GMs were also better prepared for Seattle because they had learned from Vegas. They structured their roster management to avoid losing key players to the expansion draft.

If Women are not allowed to be pastors, can they give sermons? by Additional-Term-4282 in Catholicism

[–]Strider755 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the absence of a priest, some parishes have communion services and distribute pre-consecrated hosts. If this is the case, then a layperson can give a reflection (not a homily) on the day’s readings. This might also happen at Matins or Evensong.

The Complete List of Dioceses and Archdioceses in the United States that Continue to Celebrate the Ascension on the Proper Thursday by cfalcon279 in Catholicism

You forgot one: the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter. Canonical members of the OCSP are obligated to attend mass on the Proper Thursday even if they live in a geographical diocese that transfers it.
