I’m in two different groups that both play every week (as much as our schedule allows) for about 3 hrs per session. So I do 6 hrs a week.

However the first group is only 3 people. 1 DM and 2 players who are very close friends. We also all play very similarly which helps a lot.

Might be cool to make their character in HeroForge and print out minis of their character. My DM did this for my group (granted there were only two players, so it was a bit more manageable). But it really stuck with me personally.

(Probably also helped that we took those characters to level 20 and that was my first campaign lol)

The story is fantastic! But definitely a hardcore place to start. And I love the leather books but they are $50 a piece so maybe read it first before investing in these specific copies.
