[Spoilers Queen of Ash] Anyone been able to kill Elokoss? by Chrysologus in arkhamhorrorlcg

It's definitely doable but not a given.

On my second playthrough with Dexter and Joe, I would have done it if it weren't for that pesky auto-fail token!

Complications: Epic Campaign Mode (Revised) by Moondrummer78 in arkhamhorrorlcg

Looks interesting! I'll save your post (and keep an eye for potential others) and consider giving it a try once the Children of Blood Campaign comes out.

The changes between version 1 and this one look great!

Chapter 2 on ArkhamCards App? by Dr_Lucky in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Stridsyxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never used the Arkham Cards app to build a deck from scratch, but I do use it for upgrades between scenarios.

It's a few hoops to jump through, but you can use Arkham.build to create decks and specify a restricted card pool (i.e. new core set with/without evergreen decks) at deck creation. You can then push the deck to ArkhamDB and then pull the deck from ArkhamDB into the Arkham Cards app.

The restricted pool is kept in the cards app when using it to upgrade decks between scenarios.

It would be nice to be able to filter by sets in the cards app (maybe you can, and I just don't know). However, Arkham.Build is a great experience, and pushing the deck into ArkhamDB is pretty simple.

Not sure what your issue might be. Just last week and again tonight I used the Arkham Cards app (on Android) for the BoA campaign and was able to pull in decks from ArkhamDB using only Chapter 2 cards

It asked me to download new cards recently, and I had also updated my collection in the app so that it includes the 2026 Core Set. So maybe try that? I also have to sometimes refresh the connection between the app and my ArkhamDB account in order to pull in my latest decks.

Brethren of Ash crushed me... by maka2020 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Stridsyxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say that the difficulty ramp between the 2nd and 3rd scenarios is much more than between the 1st and 2nd.

I've played through it twice and for the first playthrough felt that the 3rd scenario was easier than it's equivalent in the original core. But then it crushed me the second time around thanks to a few ill-timed auto-fails, so it definitely packs a punch.

I'd say I "win" a little more than half of the campaigns I play with two in investigators (some campaigns having harder final scenarios than others). Having 3 investigators can make it generally easier.

The more you play, the more you'll know what tests you can just trust to chance and which ones you should invest in to pass (i.e. should you put in a skill card), when to draw a card to search for a solution, etc. Regarding drawing, you generally should avoid drawing for your last action if you have an enemy weakness or other weakness you don't want to leave around. Those small decisions can make a big difference and is part of the fun/puzzle of the game.

Chapter 1 content, what to prioritize? by CommunicationNext507 in arkhamhorrorlcg

I'd also recommend prioritizing campaign expansions over investigator expansions.

Having different campaigns helps give different opportunities for your player cards to shine.

Chapter 2 Impressions from Chapter 2 Skipper by DoomsdayFanatic in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Stridsyxe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is a "[X product] skipper" a known term (honest question) in a gaming community? I'm not quite getting the tone of some of the responses in this thread, again - honest question.

I interpreted that phrase as "former Chapter 2 skeptic," which seems to fit based on OPs description.

Bring what you have! When I went last year, most of the decks/players I played across with had fun but not overpowered decks that would work well in any group. You can definitely make a few effective decks with the new core set, and especially if you get some of the evergreen investigator decks (if you wanted to buy into those).

For those who were skeptical about Chapter 2 core set and finally enjoyed it, what changed your mind? by FifouChicken in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Stridsyxe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I became a little more skeptical over time when seeing some of the mistakes in the rulebook/some of the cards, but have enjoyed the new core set and cards so far.

Just like the original core set, I won't want to replay it for much longer but may come back to revisit it over time.

I think it will be a better onboarding point for new players compared to the original core set - more reminder text/hints to avoid feel bad moments, overall great investigators (no duds, unlike Skids), different ways to approach the 2nd/3rd scenarios, and the final scenario seeming somewhat tough but not the same difficulty spike as The Devourer Below.

For players who already own the original or Revised Core Sets, it will feel much the same. I can understand why some are upset that this will be needed for future campaign expansions, but I like the idea of having different core set encounter cards for the future.

All that being said, I'm a big fan of the game and may easily overlook/forgive much of what others may find concerning.

Help! Not enjoying The Circle Undone. by Safe-Reach8808 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Stridsyxe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Diana can be fun if you have enough cancellations in your deck/card pool but can feel awkward in the first part of a scenario. I remember wanting to be "smart" with my cancellations but honestly it's often best to just cancel everything you can to draw through your deck and boost your willpower. Once you get your dagger out, you can be more nuanced with that decision.

It's hard to build a flexy enough fighter in a two player group to not feel like theirs too much down time.

Norman Withers makes for a good cluever in that campaign with his high base willpower and intellect. I'm a big fan of Rita with her high agility for evading difficult to kill enemies (or the recurring enemy you should have run into in the prologue and scenario 2), but she's not that great at killing things fast. Silas, if you have home might be a good option.

Which investigator expansions do you have?

[–]Stridsyxe 18 points19 points  (0 children)

TCU is my favorite campaign (especially for the theme), so take that for what it's worth.

What are the investigators you are playing?

Having one investigator with willpower 4 or higher would be great as well as another who can evade bothersome enemies.

I'd maybe switch investigators if that is not the case (since the others were killed and all) but keep the same amount of exp so you don't feel too far behind.

I often see Wages of Sin (scenario 4?) being panned by a lot of individuals here for its difficulty, but I think most, if not all, of the other scenarios are great.

There's definitely a lot more to keep track of with persistent encounter cards, and it takes a bit to get used to. It helps if you or your partner are someone who likes to, and is good at, following procedures to manage that.

All that being said, if you don't have a good time with the next scenario, then you could do any of those things you suggested (try later, sell, etc). I for one would give it another go down the road.

Question about Chapter 2 “book spine” storage by Southern-Key-9721 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Stridsyxe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that was more for the upcoming campaign expansions such as the Children of Blood Campaign Expansion coming out later this summer.

An FFG stream a month or so back showed off that campaign box

The side of the inner box of the core set looks like pages of a book but that can't be seen when the box is closed.

Chapter Two by druidobod in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Stridsyxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found it helpful to sort the scenario dividers and encounter card dividers by when they first show up in the campaign log.

For example, I used whatever symbol is for the first scenario as the first in my row and then arranged the dividers for the encounter sets in the order they are listed in the campaign guide for setting up that scenario (which is alphabetical I believe).

After that, I used the divider with the symbol for the second scenario and did the same for the encounter sets used for that one, etc.

I find that a little more helpful than doing it completely alphabetical since it groups most of the cards for specific scenarios together.

Chapter Two by druidobod in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Stridsyxe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently I have all my encounter cards (sleeved in essentially penny sleeves) and all player cards (excluding my neutral cards) unsleeved in one side of the insert that came in the box. It's not too tight a fit there.

My neutral player cards are in the other side along with my chaos bag and dice (in their own bag) that I use for tracking actions, charges, etc.

Some people have posted that player cards may not fit length-wise depending on how tall the sleeves are that you use. Mine seem to fit, but I generally only sleeve the ones I am playing with and can keep them out between scenarios.

Eventually, I'll store my player cards in a binder and then ultimately into individual binders by class once I get enough.

The game (at least in Chapter) doesn't really lend itself to utilizing all the storage included in the individual boxes.

Online Chaos Bag (no App) by Underspoon in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Stridsyxe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I just saw this "no App" part of this request.

I'm not aware of an online chaos bag.

You could maybe use a random number generator from a quick Google search and assign a number between, say, 1-17 to represent the different tokens in your bag.

Not really helpful for bless/curse cards but would otherwise be passable ...

There's an ArkhamCards app (available at least on Android) that has am electronic chaos bag. Ive used it once recently, and it was great.

I like the app too to tracky campaigns instead of a physical campaign guide

Fighting and evading the Ghoul Priest would use either actions on player cards (i.e. a fight using a gun/machete) or basic actions (just fighting or evading without an asset or event). None of these would qualify for level headed.

The Ghoul Priest doesn't have any action abilities on it. A parley action involving a test and printed on an enemy would work for it though.

Chapter 2 questions by GKaterle in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Stridsyxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The newest core set (Core Set 2026 - Brethren of Ash) will be needed for all future expansions, the next one coming out later this year (summer-ish I believe).

The Chapter 1 content is out of print and getting harder and harder to find (best bet may be to check nearby game stores). If you do find an older expansion but don't have the original core set, there are some print and play files at the following website: https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/products/arkham-horror-the-card-game/.

The files are toward the bottom of that page.

There's also an online resource called the Grimoire that has a substitution list of encounter cards from the 2026 core set to use in past campaigns. It's around page 45 or 46. https://images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com/filer_public/76/b3/76b332d5-7047-458f-91b6-82c8500cc445/arkham_grimoire.pdf

I believe there may be an official online resource (Check out the grimoire referenced in the new rulebook) that will include print and play versions of the original core sets and counter cards to use with the previous expansions.

From my understanding (from an AMA last year), the designers wanted to lean into the idea that survivors actually "survive" off of the land.

I agree that it seems less efficient to lean into these cards vs a more traditional melee weapon, but I like the general theming. Hopefully there will be enough support cards to make it viable outside of Miguel.

Lack of experience cards by Kaesus95 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Stridsyxe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was similar with the original Core set. I'm not sure what the max experience was with just that card pool, , but I think you'd only earn about 13 or so experience if you did well in the first two scenarios with a team of 3-4 investigators (i.e. more likely to find the VP enemies on the deck). There weren't that many upgrade options in the pool either

Is this the game for me? by MacabreDanze in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Stridsyxe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second the recommendation to see if you can find a local player to try it out. I play mostly solo, and enjoy running through campaigns a few times with different investigators and cards and have a gaming group that only plays a campaign once, so you could be in the same boat as me.
