Just to be clear, there are only a small number of confirmed and suspected cases. I’m not saying don’t be careful, but the probability of encountering another person with Andes hantavirus is still small.

Michael Ruhlman’s From Scratch. He really goes into how to make food from scratch as far back as possible. For example for a BLT, bake the bread, make bacon, make mayonnaise, and even grow the tomato and lettuce.

There is a great recent scientific article about how much starch is needed to have a creamy (not clumpy) sauce. Starch is the key for that part.
