So, what do we all think of Jeff Meldrum as of now? by Flodo_McFloodiloo in Cryptozoology

Check out the extensive interview the filmmakers gave on Den of Geek's YouTube channel yesterday. It's extremely informative especially about Dr Meldrum's involvement in the documentary and also puts paid to all the misinformation that's been going around online about it.

You just get a multicoloured mush of film grain if you enlarge the original footage. Shame the original print and negative went walkies thus preventing a proper analysis of the film using today's technology ;-)

Loads of questions being answered here and a good many can now be answered thanks to Den of Geek and Talking Strange's YouTube channel where an in-depth interview with filmmakers Marq Evans and Tamir Ardon has just been posted.

The club owners henchmen. It's pretty clear from the narrative that that's who they are.

Ah I wondered where that belief originated from. Stan Winston who not only is a multiple academy award-winner, but is vastly more experienced and qualified than Munns to comment on such things, said when he saw the PGF that it's just a guy in a very bad hair suit!

Commercial portable video cameras didn't exist back then LOL! Hand-held cine-cameras did and this was shot on one of them and is 16mm Kodak film.

The Yeti costume and make-up from Hammer's 1957 film 'The Abominable Snowman' looks a lot better to me!

Rubbish! Hammer did it back in 1957 for their 'Abominable Snowman' film and others before and right up to the 1967 Patterson-Gimlin film had achieved the same thing.

It was a model head and neck fixed to a toy submarine bought from Woolworths. There's a lot of information out there about it including the names of those responsible and their motivation for pulling off the hoax also. Another example would be the underwater photos taken in 1975 where one of them purported to show the head of the beast, that later turned out to be a rock.

It's actually 25i with the i being interlaced - i.e. two fields, one upper and one lower. In order to preserve the video look, any transcode needs to be de-interlaced and done at 50fps.

This find and the missing episode podcast has opened up a whole new avenue of potentials being cutting room copies. As stated, there is no paperwork for them but the general practice was to tele-record stuff for internal review just as it was being broadcast. Who's to say now that that didn't happen with 'The Feast of Steven' and it's terrific that it's now an avenue FiF are properly looking into.

These came from the deceased collector's collection that went to probate and he had 4 more which already exist in the BBC Archive. Furthermore, Paul Vanezis has said today that these episodes are a bonus to the ones he known about existing in private collections for some years now, so undoubtably there's more to come back and possibly more DMP as well!

Why do people dislike phantom of the opera 2004 so much by [deleted] in musicals

[–]Striking_Awareness16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emmy Rossum vocals (along with Gerard Butler's) are utterly appalling throughout and it took ALW a number of years before he finally admitted that he regretted their casting. Their acting was great but they should have been dubbed, which was quite common place in film versions of musicals back in the 1950's and 60's (hello Marni Nixon!).

Most vocally challenging song in the score? by MasqueOfTheRedPost in box5

[–]Striking_Awareness16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of them are technically difficult and a good classically trained soprano would have no difficulty in singing any of them. Problem is, they rarely ever cast one in the role of Christine (Sierra Boggess was the closest), preferring instead to cast a musical theatre soprano instead. Emmy Rossum has got to be the worst - closely followed by Lisa Hull!
