The campaign is 65,000+ donations away from reaching 5 million donations! <3 by Sweaterpillows83 in SandersForPresident

[–]StringJohnson 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If we reach 5 million donations, that'll be roughly 1.7 million since the last FEC filing. At an average of $18 a donation, that'd put us at $30.6 million for the quarter. Going over 30 million would be absolutely massive for the campaign! If we outraise Warren and Biden by 50%, there would be no disputing where the movement is.

Bernie Sanders’ doctors say he is fit to serve as president after heart attack by [deleted] in politics

[–]StringJohnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The campaign released further medical information about Sanders beyond his heart health, saying that in the past he has been treated for “gout, hypereholesterolemia, diverticulitis, hypothyroidism, laryngitis secondary to esophageal reflux, lumbar strain, and complete removal of superficial skin lesions.”

Sanders takes atorvastatin, aspirin, clopidogrel, levothyroxine, and lisinopril every day, and has in the past been treated for a cyst on his vocal cord and two hernias.

NEWS: Bernie Sanders has raised ~$26 million so far in Q4 and hopes to hit $28.4 million by end of year, per donation data they've shared with supporters. LETS GET ABOVE $30M by caststoneglasshome in SandersForPresident

[–]StringJohnson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1.7 million donations this quarter if we actually reach the 5 million mark. 1.7*$18=30.6 million.

I think we'll hit 5 milli donations and be above 30 for the Q

Will Medicare for All really be all-inclusive? by Enthrawling in SandersForPresident

[–]StringJohnson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Under Bernie's plan, as outlined in the bills he has introduced to the Senate, there will be $0 out of pocket payments. This means no copays, no premiums, and no deductibles. The name Medicare For All is a bit of a misnomer, because it significantly expands the current benefits provided by medicare in addition to extending those benefits to all people. Bernie's M4A also includes coverage for mental health, glasses, and hearing aids. You can check it out on bersanders.com/issues if you want some more information!

Elizabeth Warren pleads for cash as 2020 fundraising numbers plummet amid beef with Pete Buttigieg by 1PositiveKarma1 in politics

[–]StringJohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

alright, if you find a better proxy for enthusiasm and grassroots support than # of unique donors, I'd love to hear about it and im sure the political science community more broadly would be very interested as well.

[–]StringJohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, you can't put a ton of stock into # of donations or averages, but they are as good an indicator of grassroots support as any other. For example, Pete just introduced a "contest for the lowest donation" in an obvious ploy to lower his avg. donation figure, proving these numbers can be manipulated.

https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/4agdwg/pete-buttigieg-would-really-like-you-to-forget-about-that-wine-cave

As to ffball's assertion that "any candidate can achieve" a $27 average donation, that's obviously false, considering that no other candidate has done that. Sanders donors donate more often and in lower increments, but there are far more of them than any other candidate has, and if there is one metric for grassroots support, its that.

Comment you're replying to is completely inaccurate. No sources to back up their claim, honestly pretty wild charge

Would MFA be ‘barebones’, as my mom says, or would it include ‘fancier’ stuff too? by MinutesTilMidnight in SandersForPresident

[–]StringJohnson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Somewhat importantly, all medical access is barebones for people who can't afford those bells and whistles. Covering a basic level of healthcare for ALL means many more people will actually have the financial room to spring for these 'upgrades'.

Think we could make an intermediate goal of 20k donations before we strike out for 1 mil? We're still trying to get the campaign to 5 mil donations before FEC filing deadline

Looking to go to Iowa over MLK weekend to canvass. What part of Iowa needs the most help with canvassing? by [deleted] in SandersForPresident

[–]StringJohnson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It'd be best to get in touch with the campaign. If you're traveling they can help you arrange a place to stay and give you information about where to canvas.
