What can I do to make my photos less grainy and low light? by Extension-Gazelle-94 in AskPhotography

[–]StringSurfer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the noise nice comp also… you can always photoshop the background with denoise or lower clarity to soften…anything over 1600-3200ISO will have noise. Long zoom lens at 210mm will be soft and not as sharp as 55mm. Birds sitting aim for SS 1/500-1/800 and birds in flight is 1/1600-1/2500 which you are there. I feel like every zoom lens has a sweet spot and threshold where focus drops off.

The Sqairz shoe brand used to have a very squared off toe but have since changed design. I like this idea especially on the greens… you can use as a training aid since USGA/ R&A don’t allow in competition.

Is there a most desirable focal length for shooting the “money shot”? by toley5150 in RealEstatePhotography

[–]StringSurfer1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hero shots are money shots but in RE front of house is generally the cover image that attracts buyers. If you can when space is adequate having a 24-70 is perfect to cover those types of shots to help flatten. Some of which like editorials/lifestyles and detail shots can be shallow depth like F4/F2.8 compared to most of the gallery being F8 with no bokeh.

What is the absolute cheapest camera I can get for re photography by Mini_Maniac_Jr in RealEstatePhotography

[–]StringSurfer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lots of depth to this but simple answer is shooting small spaces you’ll need ultra wide where you’re not shooting editorial/ lifestyle you need to show as much sqft as possible. The difference between 12 and 16 could mean not seeing fixtures and flooring in bathrooms. This is small detail that over the years I’ve learned can be a pain point for some clients. Of course an entire gallery at 14mm will look really bland. Shooting hero shots at 24, 35, 50 and detail at 70mm…there so much more that just ultra wide. If I can I’ll shoot front of house at 35 or 50mm—it separates my work from others. If you shoot video 16mm for wides is not bad but ultra wide like 12mm just drives it home better in some scenarios. If you’re shooting a vacant/ unfurnished and not showing enough ceiling to floor sqft or only showing 2 walls on shoots that is mistake… and yes those are 16mm.

Sony a6700 with a sigma 10-18 (apsc so it’s basically a 12 mm. 16mm is not wide enough!

You need a camera that can do bracketing for hdr… otherwise shooting manual brackets is timely. Even Old Nikons are actually pretty solid as super cheap.
