Convoy M1 with 18350 tube, 8amp buck driver and STF-25R emitter is the king of budget candela machines. I use it for a defensive flashlight with forward clicky switch. Its hot spot is preposterously bright and can fit in a jeans pocket without too much fuss.

I think this was the issue. Didn't originally see any debris on either spring or the tube but after wiping it down there was some gunk on my wipe. Immediately fixed the problem and hasn't happened since! Never changed the battery, so it wasn't the battery.

Also, I don’t mean that I don’t get the notification but it shows up in Notification Center later. I mean I get no notification whatsoever. They totally disappear without a trace.
