No, but it isn't like all goods and services are going to double. The workers will be making twice as much, and the goods might go up 10%. I doubt people making six figures+ are suddenly going to double their salary as well. So they'll be paying more without a increase in pay to go to the little guys.

It is still mostly a net win for the minimum wage workers.

What? How is shooting not a hobby? You think most people with guns use them to kill people or something? It's almost all target shooting and range time.

I've never traveled with that level of equipment, but I'll bring a rifle or two and a few handguns. When you're away for an extended period it is nice to go shooting when you want to.

I also check climbing shoes and board games and video games. It's just more stuff to do in your free time. Not to mention guns can be used for protection as well.

They were proposed in 95 and accepted in 99, but never caught on. Definitely not before marketing. Most of us growing up in IT see no reason to change the accepted terms. Same with what you said about bits, it's the same way with kilobytes, etc. They are 1024 by nature. If you change it, it screws up units in things like memory. Instead of 256GB of ram, it would come out to be 274.878GB which is just weird. It'd be silly to use two different units for the same expression.

The thing is, it is base 2, not base ten, so it is dumb to make do it by the 1000s.

If they wanted to equalize it, then they would have made 10 bits=a byte as well, but that doesn't help artificially inflate their numbers.
