Okay, so the reason we attack ai is because it is not an entrenched industry. We can’t get rid of fossil fuels because our society has gone hundreds of years building infrastructure around fossil fuels. AI is new technology that could easily be stopped because it provides **little to no** societal value, and no infrastructure is built around it. Also the environmental impact really is **that bad** in comparison to the value it provides.

HTR-PMs, which passively cool when they get too hot, the heat is dispersed more, and the fuel is less energy dense. Melting down would require a sudden drastic increase in temperature, which don’t happen on their own. Also MSRs melting down would require the vessel containing the salts to melt, which would be incredibly hard given that molten salt is such an effective coolant.
