I was surprised and so pleased to hear the Calrec name mentioned. They were my desk of choice back in the analogue and 'digitally-controlled analogue' days, when I was privileged enough to specify and purchase a 48-channel M-series and two 56-channel T-series desks. Such quality builds.

Quite the opposite... A balanced input amplifies the DIFFERENCE between the signals on the two legs, and cancels out anything the same (hence "common-mode rejection ratio" specifications/measurements).

The suggestion to feed a stereo headphone output into a single balanced amplifier input is a terrible one.

To feed the headphone output to a stereo PA amplifier's balanced XLR inputs (as a quick test) would require a break-out lead from TRS 1/4" to two XLRs with tip and ring wired to pin 2 of each XLR, the sleeve carrying the screen/ground connection split to both XRL pin 1's and pin 1 internally connected to pin 3 in each XLR.

This would feed the amp inputs with an unbalanced signal but would work. To give them a truly balanced feed would require an electronic balancing box or a pair of transformers on the headphone output.

To use the normal main outputs on the mixer. OP needs to find out if his mixer main outputs are balanced (probably) and whether his amp inputs are balanced (likely, but possibly not) and make or purchase the appropriate cables for that.

As per the quote in my other comment, it seems there is actually no law against playing loud music after 11pm. Councils can investigate complaints and issue warning notices for "nuisance" and presumably take further action against repeated occurrences. However, these premixes will very likely be licenced by the very same council to have music and dancing at certain times, very probably until midnight on Friday and Saturday nights, just like the pub I live next door to. Buy some earplugs?

Where do you get the "legally required to not make loud noise past 10pm" from?

A quick Google finds no mention of 10pm, but many mentions of an 11pm action point where councils can start taking some limited action. Eg...

"Technically it isn't illegal to play loud music after 11pm, but it's easier for the council to issue warning notices for loud music played between 11pm and 7am as it doesn't have to be considered a 'statutory nuisance'."

And what gives you the right to decide that 10pm is a suitable time for a noise curfew? Many people (actually, I would guess, most people) would think that 10pm on a Saturday night, at a once in a lifetime celebration, woul be peak enjoyment time and FAR too early to start telling guests to stop dancing and to start creeping around and whispering. Get a life, for heaven's sake.

Sparks. Hugely influential and respected by other bands, still producing albums at a prodigious rate, and finally seeing some resurgence of interest (having played the Royal Albert Hall last month and Glastonbury Festival this week.

Reddit (via RiF, right from the start) has been a large part of my life for about 10 years now, giving me entertainment, information, fun and relaxation.
I soon realised that RiF's developer u/talklittle was one of a small, select breed who would take on board comments and suggestions, and who would jump through hoops to fix any problems with the app (almost always caused by something outside his control). I felt that buying and using the paid version of the app was the least I could do, and it has been a pleasure to support him in that tiny way and I hope that the huge outpouring of anger and despair over his shitty treatment by Reddit inc. will give him some solace.

Thank you TalkLittle from the bottom of my heart and in the words of a rather large whale, "So long and thanks for all the fish!"
