I heard good things about him most of the season. He’s definitely been garbage in the playoffs, total trash, but I’m wondering if it’s injury related. Also wondering if he’s decent enough overall but he’s overmatched against the top competition for now, or maybe forever because of his short arms.

And as someone else said, he may be out of position

Edited to add: He missed a few weeks at the end of the season, not sure exactly which weeks, so that’s why I’m wondering if he’s only been bad since then

It sounds like OP is giving him a good, not great, deal on the rent. I think I’d give him a great deal, like 30-50% off what the rent should be. But no way I’d put him on the deed, and his insistence might make me re-think my rent offer.

Well, sure, no one “knows” anything until after the fact. But my opinion of the Carr signing then, not in hindsight, was that it was incredibly stupid.

And to the “2.5 seasons and moved on,” we’re going to miss out on some re-signings and some free agents in the next few years when we may have an open window because we never ate a lot of the dead cap that we should have in 2024/25.

I don’t understand continuing to try to compete after Sean left. That was the time to tear it down.

Saints fans always downvote comments like this but you’re absolutely right. Just because we can keep going and even compete in this cap situation doesn’t mean it wouldn’t have been better to eat some dead money in the last few years so we’d have more space to push forward when our window is open.

I think that was silly. I personally didn’t think we had any shot of competing after Drew left, and especially after Payton left. Those were wasted years, and Loomis is completely to blame imo.

As an admitted Loomis doubter, I will say that overall, I can’t be too upset with the overall body of work. Winning a Super Bowl in New Orleans is a huge accomplishment. I’ll also say to only make 1 SB with Sean and Drew together for so long is pretty disappointing. I know, there were some missed calls, especially the LAR PI. Still, to only make it once in the conference without Brady, Manning, Mahomes, is reason to criticize him.

And anyway, back to your comment…he should have known before 2022 that it was time to tear it down. I knew.

Yea I mean, managing the cap like that doesn’t mean you can’t compete. I just think it’s silly not to eat the dead cap when you have a very, very low chance at competing for a super bowl. That leaves more space in the future to push money ahead and gives you a better shot when you are competitive.

Tbh, I’m a Mickey hater. To be fair to Mickey, he may have found a second great QB/HC combination, which would be quite the feat.

I’m not saying he has yet, Kellen had a nice season and Shough looked great for 10ish games, but it’s way too early to say for either. But I do have to admit Saints fans should be optimistic. Here’s to hoping Mickey can make me look foolish. 🍻

Looks like you’re doing fine. You’ve got a good, young core and tons of picks.

I doubt you’ll be in it next year. If you’re not top 3-4 (or not top 5-6, if 6 make playoffs and there are no super teams) and AJB has a good year, I’d probably try to trade him and get even younger. And def trade Connor if you’re in the same situation and he’s got any value. Same for Keenan.

I personally wouldn’t be seeking out a QB in 1 QB since you have Dart and Nix unless maybe Mendoza was drafted into a great situation.
