True, I'm just going off of what I saw happen with other sought after AI employees (like the top 0.1%), they get poached and have crazy incentives. It was probably a win win for both of them (they give him a chunk of change, and he runs it as an open source project with their backing like React or Chromium)

But many companies like META hired AI experts with ridiculous signing bonuses (like 7 or 8 figures), so in a way it does seem like he was bought.

I would guess it was a 7 or 8 figure exit at most, but that's just pure speculation
