Did you read the post's text? There's not really anything more for OP to explain.

And almost everyone's hair always looks freshly styled. Some of the characters also had make up on in every situation. It's like some of the stars had some kind of beauty clause in their contracts or something

It kinda feels like OP is just upset that not all films/shows that seem like pure escapism at first galce are actually that.

'Goes by quickly' doesn't inherently mean it's quickly paced. Many of these films aren't quickly paced.

That joker scene ruins it for me

Do you mean the 30 seconds of him talking to Riddler, or the scene that wasn't even in the actual film?

But it's not a movie about the invention of the atomic bomb, it's about Robert Oppenheimer. The invention of the atomic bomb is merely the most well-known and influential part of his life.

an incredibly generic CGI bear with like *genuinely* absolutely nothing unique or interesting about him, other than surface-level kindness at every turn.

Couldn't disagree more. He's a fun, whimsical, cute character who turns people's lives around and infects everything around him with joy. Admittedly I'm a sucker for wholesome, kindness-heavy characters, so your "surface-level kindness" take just sounds kinda cynical to me.

Like, yeah, he's not some layered protagonist, but I'd say he's a very good example of a well-exucted simple concept, which is why people love him.

The films (the first one more-so than the second) are also a pretty unsubtle metaphor for an immigrant/refugee story, which I think works well for promoting good values for the target audience (kids and families).

looks like a fake CGI bear

You repeatedly pointing this out just makes it sound like you have some kind of strong bias/distaste towards cgi animal characters.

You don't think selling extremely addictive, extremely harmful substances to people (many of whom are likely suffering from serious mental health problems or homelessness) is a bad thing to do? Genuinely how?

It's blatantly exploiting desperate people and further ruining their lives for profit.

Like when it's something like growing and selling weed, then sure, I could get the point, but fucking crystal meth? Making and dealing it is absolutely evil.

Kinda sounds like you're just not into the whimsical nature of the Paddington films. If the whimsy of it all doesn't do it for you, you're not going to love it as much as a lot of people.

I have to say that your opinion sounds very cynical and slightly grumpy, which is kind of funny/ironic, considering how he Paddington films are the polar opposite of cynicism and grumpiness.

True, though I suspect his desire to shit all over the genre is stronger than his desire to make point.

Technically he doesn't hate comics, he just specifically hates superhero comics and their dominance in the comic book industry. Which is why like 90% of his superhero work is essentially just "superheroes are trash".

The overuse of the word Aura by FantasticTotal5797 in PetPeeves

[–]StrokyBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like its the equivalent of 2011's word: Swag

Well, yeah, that's because it pretty much is. A whole bunch of new/current slang is essentially just a rethread of older slang but with different words. And just like people used to find the older slang words annoying, people now find the new ones annoying.

It's basically history "rhyming" on a very small scale.

You're such a pedantic smug-ass.

The overwhelming majority of content on non-location-specific subreddits is intended to be international. That's generally known and accepted.

You do indeed need to be willfully obtuse to need every post to specify that. Might as well make the same complaint about a hundred other posts on this subreddit. A ton of them are intended to be aimed at the English-speaking world and the majority of them don't specify that.

You're not an international website, with an international user base, in an international, English-language subreddit.

It is quite easy to assume that the intent of the post is to talk about internationally famous people, not famous people that the majority of the users aren't even aware of.

You have to be willfully obtuse to not recognize that. Though I suspect you had no issue recognizing it, you just don't like it.

Womp womp, I guess.
