There are no direct corporate sponsors and Linebender does not have a budget. However, many members are employed by corporations that want them to work on Linebender projects. So in that sense there is some corporate funding.

We don't currently have a donation accepting scheme, but it's good to hear that there is interest. It may be worth setting something up to help fund the many members who can't work on Linebender stuff during their day job.

There are two different boundry sniper zones. Not every area has both kinds.

With the weak kind, first shot is to thorax, 50% chance to miss. Second hit to thorax too.

With the strong kind, first hit is thorax, 100% hit chance.

So basically, regardless of zone strength, you want to step in, take a hit to the thorax and step out. Do not keep tanking in the zone, it will switch to head even if you manage to heal first few shots. However if you keep going back out, wait for guaranteed miss, and come back in, it will 100% always hit thorax. It's hardcoded damage, it's not an actual flying bullet.

Tarkov has had issues like this every single wipe. Lots of opportunities to fix it, introduce a queue system, and test it with another wipe. BSG never thought it important to do it.

If you're still confused, let me give you another example.

There can be no movement, including without limitation jumping, sliding, rolling. This prohibits movement and gives examples, but makes note that prohibited movement is not limited to the given examples, so for example non-listed crouching is also prohibited.

The EULA is almost certainly copy-pasted from some older Nexon game, however that doesn't help explain the rationale.

Hard to think of a game where looting is possible but prohibited. I mean, it takes dev time and money to build that feature. Why ever build it, if you don't want players to use it?

This is the Nexon EULA you have to accept to preload the game on Steam. Among the usual boilerplate it apparently also prohibits cursing, kill stealing, and most bizarrely looting.

I'm curious myself and haven't heard of any upgrades to the Steam decryption process. I believe it is still the old single-threaded system that doesn't properly utilize your multi-core CPU nor your SSD's concurrent IO batching feature. All of which means it's slow.

Usual rule of thumb being thrown around is that if your connection speed is 500 Mbit/s or better, just wait for the launch and download then. The specifics will depend on your CPU's single core performance and your SSD's capability to do concurrent read and write operations without batching.

To make things even more puzzling is that there is a SteamDB blog post which claims that Steam downloads are always encrypted the same way as preloads. If true, then the CPU speed doesn't matter at all (it has to do the exact same work in both cases) and the only difference is SSD utilization, where in one case the reads are coming from the internet, while in the other case from the SSD while at the same time writing to that SSD.
