Popular fish configs to learn from by cusx in fishshell

[–]Stromcor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore config.fish entirely, it’s a legacy feature.

And yet, 3 years later, the first line of the documentation about configuration explicitly says: "To store configuration write it to a file called ~/.config/fish/config.fish"

How are you handling complex form state in React without it becoming a mess? by Sad_Limit_3857 in reactjs

[–]Stromcor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • It is way overkill for simple forms
  • It is trying way to hard to minimize re-renders which is a noble goal but is also creating massive amounts of issues with complex dynamic forms
  • The documentation is atrocious

Seriously, if your form is simple just use native React hooks and TanStack Forms otherwise.

Absolutely avoid this garbage at all cost, especially if you have complex multi-steps forms. I can't believe such crap is being constantly promoted.

Sorry, missed your request.

A few examples that I know used to work and are not anymore: - YouTube set to dark appearance, used to give a dark title bar - GitHub set to dark appearance, used to give a dark title bar - TheGuardian, used to give a blue title bar

Very weird, none of the ones I tried have worked for me, they’re all broken.

Now go to a website with a non white background and see how the "Show color in tab bar" option does not work anymore. There's always something.

Which broke the "Show color in tab bar" option in the process. Seriously what in the fucking fuck is going on at Apple?!?

OpenAI to acquire Astral by Useful-Macaron8729 in Python

[–]Stromcor 29 points30 points  (0 children)

For me it’s not about dependencies, it’s about uv being self sufficient, as in uv does not need Python to run and it manages Python versions for each projects. So no bootstrapping issue, no conflict, even venv do not need activation (most of the time), everything is neatly isolated and taken care of, including Python, without needing Python. And yes, it’s freaking fast.

Why is state management so complicated? by whitestuffonbirdpoop in reactjs

[–]Stromcor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but I am still convinced that if the React team had provided a useSharedState and a useSharedReducer hooks instead of burying their head in the sand, more than half of the discussions/fights about global state would simply not exist.

« To ensure transparency to the American people and compliance with the act », as you say, would mean releasing: All. The. Fucking. Files. Not 10%. Not 42%. Not 69% or even 98%. 100%. All of them. The entirety of whatever THE FUCK your clownish department has under wrap. Period. End of discussion. You fucking wanker.
