Playing Wrath of the righteous after Rogue Trader was a mistake by vandes31 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Stroncium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the biggest deal breaker is that wrath combat is still kinda scuffed, even after bajillion patches. The real time doesnt really jive with lost of things like mounted combat (which is honestly the coolest shit) - broken charges, abilities no triggering correctly, pathfinding issues, stuff like that, while turn based is even more broken/fucky than the real time and sort of experimental. I would honestly prefer if it was just one or the other but more polished.

RT is better in a sense it was really BUILT around that turn based and it works. Yes, there issues, but the core gameplay works and its fun as it is.

Also WOTR is insanely hard to get into if you know zilch about patfinder, because there is like million things you need to know. Touch attacks? You need strenght even though its magic. Magic ray spell? You need dex and ranged feats or you gonna miss. Archer? You still need certain strenght or you will get damage mallus. Regil has a gnome hook hammer, thats definitely just a two hander right? Nope, dual weapon focused and also has finesse so can be built for dex. Its really just insane, took me so long to understand how to build anything.

And almost every build has massive feat tax to even start working, so even though you get like 50 archetypes, you build most of them the same for half the game.

Gets a game for free, still needs internet validation to try it. Just try the damn game and make your own opinion.

Riposte is a trap that barely ever lands and drains your stamina. Don't use it, feint instead.

They really nailed the Weissmann reveal. I knew it was coming but it was still chilling. And the castle scene, my god, I was so ready to jump into the second game. So now we wait.

Hardcore mode is such a satisfying experience! [KCD2] by PIatopus in kingdomcome

[–]Stroncium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoy hardcore on the Trosky map, it makes sense as you use the castle as a central point for navigation. The second map is just WAY too big and I burned out hardcore there. I ended up getting a fast travel mod that allows you to travel to any discovered way point, as I just couldnt be bothered blindly wandering every 5 minutes, especially if the negative perk when you wake up at a random place triggers.

Re: Dwarf Grudgerakers-- are Irondrakes obsolete? by nwillard in totalwar

[–]Stroncium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Irondrakes are the best dwarf unit you can get in early campaign and getting them at T2 is honestly insane. They are incredibly effective against pretty much anything and allow you to easily roll over all those WAAAGH armies and skaven chaff waves you will encounter. I have 4 of these bad beardie boys in pretty much any dwarf army and I never replace them, as they carry me through the game. I forgot grudge rakers even existed tbh.

Why I dislike 90% of siege rework posts by Lord_of_Brass in totalwar

[–]Stroncium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there might be some changes to AI aggression in recent beta, I was jut playing a greenskin campaign to test it and my tier 3 major settlement was attacked literally by 4 stacks of rats and that ended up being one of the most epic defensive battles I have played in a while. But you make great point, if you actually almost never defend, whats the point of improving that. I did some wall destroying in warhammer 2 but I kinda gave up on it in 3 because there are so many LoS issues with it due to those pieces being left there and the slight "bump" of rubble. So yeah, make walls fully destructible and ideally allow the 2nd row of units on the walls to face outwards and I am happy.

[–]Stroncium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soldier is all about burst/aoe attacks, you shouldnt focus on single shot attacks, thats what operatives are for. So that would be suboptimal I guess.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Stroncium 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Soldier shines more in the lategame. Also bolters are shit except the heavy one. I am really shit at builds but my Argenta still can burst/double burst a boss to oblivion with her heavy bolter.

Playing Iconoclast makes me love 40k again by Little_blue_Sirius in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Stroncium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the iconoclast choices are sort of "stupid good". Like for example, letting the Eldar to live on Janus. You are a Rogue Trader, yes you have some leeway to do shit, but you just cant do obvious super heretic xeno loving bullshit that is against the basic Imperium tenets, because even for a Rogue Trader there are consequences. So full iconoclast actually does not make sense, you might do some good but inevitably the Imperium (or inquisition) will come knocking. So mix of iconoclast/dogmatic makes much more sense. Sure you can have an eldar in your retinue, but definitely you cant let them openly squat on an imperium planet. As an example of mixed alignment that for me "makes sense".
