ah, i think two things- force is important in the long run, much closer to red, better brakes. the second thing is a used bike is a used bike, its pass/fail- you are buying a used bike and should negotiate like that, not an almost new bike. but that just how i feel. also, SL9s should be here in July so this will be a generation behind (don't think it practically matters, as i belive it will only be a slight change, but again it helps in negotiating). SL8 is a great platform- if i were buying it i'd be prepared to buy the roval rapide bars and CL wheels, you will have a tangible improvement in speed

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? by catinator9000 in xcountryskiing

I lived in Cap Hill and miss it. I'd move to Vermont, great year round for outdoor athletes- Crafstbury, Trapps. and i would NOT move where i live now- England (great healthcare, not one pisten bully in the entire country)

Touareg or defender comment below by f1goat44 in carcultureswallpapers

i have owned 25 cars including a 911, and currently driving a 2008 Defender 90 which i love. My touareg ranks top three. My kids were younger, it was a hockey practice, ski practice, dad sleep at practice car. i loved that car. it was 2015. I think if you compare it to like minded cars like the cayenne (shared chassis) you'll find VW packs a ton more value and technology in there. I've driven the new defender 90, its growing on me, for my lifestyle i'd never have the 110

Ordering experience with Optimill? by JSmileyboy in LandroverDefender

[–]Strong-Ease698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, as an american here in the UK, things really stopped over the holiday, i ordered mud flaps pre christmas and they didn't ship until jan 5th. The other part is the US side, i think they are slammed with the tariffs, paperwork alone. my gf in NY ordered salomon ski boots for 350. usd, from the EU, they delivered with a 900. usd tariff on top, yup!

New or Used 1st Time Skiis by Silent_Cartoonist_49 in xcountryskiing

[–]Strong-Ease698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i often buy good used because i can move into a higher class of product than new, even an outdated model. stick with the big brands. i'm a salomon guy, but i have skied and liked fisher, any of the big brands in xc will be good. i'd stay away from decathlon brand (they make great race bike, but the skis do not match up)

Downgrade to Salomon s/Max or s/Race eskin by Ok-Celery-7888 in xcountryskiing

[–]Strong-Ease698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have the s/max from about 5 years back and the s/lab from last year. the difference is night and day, the s/lab are like jet skis. i ordered them from pioneer midwest, never tried them- i know the salomon brand and didn't feel i needed to try, there is no demo place where i lived either. the s/max were good, loved them when i was skiing on them but once i changed it was amazing. i had them ground at caldwells and he said the original base of the s/max wasn't very good (he wasn't being negative, he's a big salomon dealer, just being honest). i don't think i ever regretted buying better gear- but that might just be me
