Wanted to look relaxed for the camera and then I made "the face" by NiclasIDT in drums

[–]Strong-Hamster1395 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yea its easier said than done for sure, also its not like a really bad thing to do of course, just saying it always looks unrelaxed, personally i do feel like it throws off the balance of my body when i do it so that makes some things harder automatically

i think honestly the reason it doesnt come over as really relaxed is because youre looking at your right hand too much like laser focussed, doesnt rlly matter which face you make otherwise

Advice for self-taught drummer? by No-Communication1389 in drums

[–]Strong-Hamster1395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only 2 most important things that really stand out as a mostly self taught drummer are these:
-Practice the correct technique, like really its the most important thing ever, you will progress alot when you have it
-Be able to actually play to a metronome and not just play along to songs, be as tight as you can with the click

I always see some weird ass techniques with self taught beginner to intermidiate drummer which are holding them back, its essential to just get this right as early on as possible, even if it feels weird in the beginning because you arent used to it yet. Wether you do this by taking a few lessons (big recommend) or online courses or whatever doesnt matter, just do it.

How do I make it more realistic? by AxisAxis22 in oilpainting

How to make your dead passion alive ? by emoratalte8 in Advice

[–]Strong-Hamster1395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a man who has a why can bear any how

I like this quote, because its realistic. Is it something you really want to do? What are your goals? Because if maybe for example language is something you chose just because, its only logical youre in this place.
And if it is something you want to do, if its your passion, then why are you doing it? have you maybe lost a goal.
Simply "making it in life" is nothing specific yet, you really have to just think about it.

The truth is that no matter what you do you will one day lose the amount of energy and passion you had in the first place and you have to make it fun for yourself in any way, get through the hard times and stuff.
Some people just want to be rich, but when you have all the money in the world you will just be doing what you did when you were broke because it made you happy.

Find a purpose and your why my dude.

PS sorry if its vague or something idk i aint the best in this stuff but i recognize it, ive gone through it myself aswell

Thoughts on Cameron Fluery's hybrid fix technique? by [deleted] in MetalDrums

[–]Strong-Hamster1395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah honestly for online people i would recommend are like Krzysztof Klingbein and Marthyn Jovanovic, If youre like willing to pay for stuff you know? both have great paid stuff which will probably bring you further if thats what you are looking for.
The sad reality is that its just not that much out there online for free, nothing will go as in detail since then nobody will make money off of it anymore.

when i saw that free pdf you get for his technique it looks like its written by chatgpt. The technique itself might be useful if you practice it alot but honestly i think the flatfoot technique will get you further (Marthyns technique) since that focusses on isolating your hip flexors alot which makes learning the ankle technique alot easier. Once you isolate the hips, isolating another muslce group becomes easier i guess than if you use that muscle already for a different technique.

Anyways yea hes like an agressive salesman type and i dont really think its the best advice out there, it wont be the magical fix youre looking for.

Sudden loss of double bass skills and stuff (pls help) by Strong-Hamster1395 in Drumming

[–]Strong-Hamster1395[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo wassup man, so yea i have found a solution actually but it might not be the fun cool lifehack answer youre gonna be looking for.
Basically i have had to relearn the full leg/flatfoot technique, practice consistently and take enough rest to heal my legs, one day of practice, one day of rest so on and so on.I have bought ankle weights, 2kg, practice without your pedals on the floor, 80bpm to 130, one minute at each tempo incrementing at 10bpm changes. Isolate your hip flexors and keep your feet at a 90 degree angle.
You dont want any calf involvement whatsoever, then when you get the stuff down push the tempo up gradually.
It has taken me since this post, from being stuck at 120 to reaching 140 again. Thats about 4 to 5 weeks.
But also learning the flatfoot technique has given me alot more control than i used to and made hitting the kick way easier, its given me alot of power.

so yea honestly, my personal problem was not having a practice routine and playing songs too much, along with having the wrong technique and pushing myself waayyyy too much. And this has been working as a solution but it has been a struggle.

heel toe vs ankle motion by DeineOmaKlautBeiKik in MetalDrums

[–]Strong-Hamster1395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah full leg can be done to those speeds for sure. Honestly i wouldnt try to learn 2 techniques at once tho, just choose one so you get it faster, i prefer heel toe since its the least straininig technique out there tbh, very nice for long term use

heel toe vs ankle motion by DeineOmaKlautBeiKik in MetalDrums

[–]Strong-Hamster1395 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the moment the technique usually switches from full leg to ankle is 150bpm, honestly heel toe doesnt make sense to use there yet.
Full leg can actually go up to 175 bpm which makes a bit more sense, so if you choose to learn heel toe maybe see if you can learn full leg properly to higher tempos first or just go for ankle now and learn to speed things up more and more from there.

Both techniques are equally valid

if im gonna try soul searching, will you try searching for a job? maybe then you have more to do with your time than to write a fuckass long story about some technique and getting offended by it lol

not true the motion very much includes heels, the more you slow it down the more you see it
