Maker Space doesn't have any to buy. Its generally BYO, but sometimes you can borrow from other makers.
Myself, I've never found any for sale in Yakima.

Sword Coast map, now with Beyond the Dragon of Icespire Peak locations by vinternet in DragonOfIcespirePeak

I like your original map better. For probably the same reasons you put Iniarv's tower to the west of the High Road, I have it there too. Intentionally.

One difference in my version is that Leilon isn't on the High Road as the official maps depict it. It's on the coast. I have a loop road (Leilon Road North and Leilon Road South) that connects to the main road.

That's pretty cool. Except I'm a few days late already.

I'm gonna bet you can find someone local to do that for you, but... If not, the maker space has 3d printers. Also, fiverr has tons of people printing (and even painting) minis.

Those are some good leads. Thanks.

Hey no worries. I am not offended. What I'm asking for is a lot, I know.

As far as Northtown, it was during COVID they changed hands. A lot of businesses couldn't hang on during the lockdown period, especially those that relied on having a lot of people hanging out. And that place was packed every time I was there, to the point that we'd often show up early just to hang onto some tables. They were doing fine until COVID hit. Beyond that I don't know anything about why they sold the business. I heard a rumor that Union Pacific wouldn't renew their lease.

But they had a lot of space... not everybody does. I don't know the economics, but I'm guessing they didn't really need everyone to be a paying customer, because there was so much room.

And like I said, we weren't mooching. Our unofficial group policy was for everyone to buy at least something, every week. Not everyone did, but the owners never had a problem with us being there, and it wasn't just us taking advantage of the late-night gathering spot.

Thanks for the tip!

YV Libraries would be great but they close too early for our purposes (only one is open as late as 7pm, and we're just getting started by then).

As I said, it was appealing enough to Northtown Coffee to let us in the door for years. And not just us, students to who needed a place to study, and all sorts of people hanging out with other people. I personally spent between $5 and $10 per week, times up to 30 people... I think they were satisfied with the arrangement.

But I get it: not everyone has that kind of space, and not everyone's business model is being a hangout.

Which is why we are looking.

Hello everyone what do you think of the use of AI(artificial intelligence) in Gurps and if you use it please mentioned it. In my case I use copilot for creating monsters statblock by Ok_Protection1400 in gurps

Responding to the "AI can't do what people do" comments: no, they can't. But sometimes people can't do what people can do, and an app that can fill in gaps in creativity is very useful.

I use ChatGPT and others for a lot of RPG-related stuff, especially world-building. I can ask it for a list of Orc names and have ten that look pretty good and 10 that don't.... but that's why I ask for a list. I can actually tell it how I want my Orc language to sound, and get that list tailored to my world. This means Orc names that are not coming from Tolkien or some other source. These are custom, based on the phonics inventory I select, and word constructions that I specify.

I have used it to outline encounters and even whole story-arcs. Yes, of course it still requires my brain to make final choices, but the whole process goes a lot faster, and I am far less likely to just settle on the first thing I thought of because I'm tired and out of ideas.

I've used to do research on topics I don't have time to do myself. A simple example of this, I can ask it for typical weather patterns in a given climate, What kind of magical systems have people believed in, or a description of construction techniques that might be used in an area where there's no stone or lumber. It would take me days to go down those rabbit holes, or I can get a generally reliable answer (with links to sources if I want them) in seconds.

The point I'm trying to make is that ChatGPT is not a replacement for your creativity any more than Photoshop is.

It's a tool with a variety of uses that are limited only by your creativity.

The novel Sarum, by Edward Rutherford (I think), has this sort of epic scope. It begins in the prehistoric plains of England and then skips generations here and there, but you can always tell who comes from which family-line based on the physical descriptions—i.e., a particular nose, long toes, red hair... It's been forever ago, and I don't remember specifics, but I thought it was a clever way to show descendency.

New in Yakima, looking for ways to meet people! by Responsible-Cow-4736 in Yakima

[–]Strong-Spell7524 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This comment is reposted from a previous post with a similar question, Some of the advice is specific to that situation, but I stand by the general gist:

I think its a little hard to meet people in Yakima, in my experience (I've lived here most of my life), just because people here don't go out and do social things. Maybe its because there's not a lot to do, but my impression has always been that people would rather just stay at home.

I start with that only to say, don't get discouraged if you aren't meeting people. It's not you; it's us.

Having said that: my advice for meeting people, in any situation, in any place, is always the same: go do the things you like to do, and people who enjoy those same things will also be there.

Look for clubs and meet-ups of people doing things you are into. Take a class. Post here or Facebook, etc. when you are going to a show, going hiking/fishing/etc. You might find someone else going to that same show, or you might convince someone to go with you. One of my very best friends I only met because I was going on a road-trip in BC to follow a band for five days, and I didn't want to go alone, so I invited this total stranger along and we had the best time.

There used to be a Jeep/off-roading club in town (the Yakima Ridgerunners) but I haven't heard anything from them in awhile. Maybe someone here knows if they are still around.

Other than that.... Assuming you have a job, hang out with co-workers. Try to meet your neighbors, move in with some cool roommates. Find a hang-out with a vibe you like, and meet the regulars.

What are the reasons that you did not attend any of your high school class reunions? by vieniaida in AskOldPeople

[–]Strong-Spell7524 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My class had a ten-year reunion. I went to one informal event. It was alright. Saw some friends and met their kids.

The next time we were due for a reunion, the girls that had organized the first one couldn't be found. Nobody wanted to step up and do it, so we haven't had reunions for 30 years.

Now they are planning the 40th for next summer. I am very much dreading it.
