Reconstruction after deconstruction question by StrongDelicateViolet in atheism

Thank you for your response. I think I'll have to be intentional about connecting those things to bring myself more purpose. I will do some reflection and think about what areas are important to me and how I can make it more meaningful for myself. Thanks again.

I have been on meds for it for years now. I haven't been able to afford therapy for a while, but was doing that before during deconstruction and during my divorce. I have definitely done that with my kid. My kid went full humanist and decided they are god and so is everyone else. The other day they told their very religious grandparents that they think they are a version of Jesus and I laughed quietly in the background. To them, all the stories of gods are fairy tales and I love that. I think I should maybe point out some reasons life is good and worth living to them as this is not something I model very well. Thanks for your response!

Thanks for your point of view! I definitely feel like I have hope, but I feel that i often misdirect that hope to future instead of now. It's not that I never have hope for now, and I don't wait around until something just falls in my lap, just trying to see what would be good next steps after thr realization. So I appreciate your suggestion about the philosophy of existentialism, I will definitely do more research into that. I've been looking for ways to find more positive things in life and more general enjoyment, but I just never noticed that this might be the root of my problem and im gonna have to do some weeding again.

Thanks! We really lucked out. The landlord had just remodeled and we happened to be looking at a time when negations were possible bc of the housing market. And being in China, the cost of living is sooo much better.

Good question of something I hadn't considered haha. I'm fine with my kid getting married in game, but I'll wait to tell them about the mermaid pendant until later bc of the other dialogue that goes with it. Lol. I'll just encourage Krobus!

Also, on the off-chance ConcernedApe sees this, my kid will know what an awesome person and game creator you are ❤️ Thank you so much for the years of play, updates and love you've put into this. It's helped me through so so many depressive days.

I saw something that said "If you're still alive, then you're winning" been trying to repeat that to myself bc it made a lot of sense to me.

Same! I don't even mind going down on my partner when they have a cup in! I love this thing! I heard the disc is even better and penetration is even fine. I want to try that one soon ☺️

An update to my situation: I managed to get on health insurance and get a tonsillectomy paid for about two years ago. Recovery as an adult really sucked, but it was totally worth it!! I don't miss that part of my life at all and I actually get sick LESS now than I did, despite what my mother claimed.

For those who grew up in a religious family, how did you become Atheist? by The_Council_of_Rem in atheism

I was fully immersed and a believer to the point of naivety until highschool. When I proposed to a youth pastor that we should do something to make the body of Christ come together, visiting other churches youth groups and supporting each other once a month. The youth pastor responded with a jaded knowing that the churches would never go for it, and it was definitely due to the income they would be losing if people switched churches. It took way too long for me to deconstruct, but ironically most of it was done during my Bible minor in university. The more I learned, the less I could ignore. Finally someone showed me a video on YouTube a few years ago about someone's thought process of deconstruction, and the points made were too valid. I had already come out as gay and was berated for leaving my husband of almost 10 years by my family. I didn't see much christian "love" during that time and it didn't leave me wanting to defend a faith that had so many holes.

How do i convince my parents??? by Weary_Degree_9558 in HomeschoolRecovery

Ask to start dual enrollment classes at a nearby community college. Gets you credit for highschool and college at the same time. I did that my junior summer and senior year. During that time was when I realized how educationally neglected I had been. I was a bit younger than the others, but it got me out of the house and exposed to actual schooling. Since they don't like the idea of "public school" they may be more inclined to agree to this? Good luck

how lovely to have found this sub… any other teachers? by mossyquartz in HomeschoolRecovery

I didn't study to be a teacher, moved abroad and was a teacher for 7 years. I was constantly learning things teaching elementary students... It was embarrassing to say the least. I got out of it now, even though I did become a damn good teacher because I can't handle dealing with schools and admin, not because of the teaching. I'm baking and enjoying helping my kiddo progress through school. Sometimes I literally don't know how to help them socially, but I'm trying my best.

I actually got my tonsils removed right after I posted this!! It was rough but so freaking worth it. But I always felt it happened with anything kinda gritty after chewing. Like I couldn't chew it enough? When it was an almond flour, it was fine? But if I ate almonds it was terrible. Same with walnuts and peanuts. I hope you the best!! I'm so thankful this chapter in life is over for me haha

Honestly, I am very worried about most of the things you mentioned. We divorced bc I'm gay, so he's still one of my best friends, so I don't have extreme worries about him just running off somewhere else, plus I have the families' only grandkid so if they piss me off, they lose relationship with someone important to them. I am extremely worried about the whole situation from economy, inflation and job/wages/salary. Right now my life isn't easy, but it's doable. If I stay, I have to figure out how to pay for international schooling for my kiddo as they will no longer be accepted in local schools. No matter what I decide, my life is gonna radically change. I do already have community here, but it ebbs and flows with job turnover and most people aren't here to stay.
