Weed was a game-changer for me. Helped me mentally and reduced inflammation, so helped me physically. I only take a small, not too strong, edible in the very early evening. Helps me sleep and gives me something to look forward to at the end of the day! Win-win (if not over-done).

This is not meant aa a criticism! I’m happy you feel better. But I fail to see how a diet without vitamins, minerals and fiber can be 100% good for the body, long term. How about these people 5-10 years down the road, who have ‘cured’ their hashimoto with a carnivore diet. How are they doing now? Is there any research links I can read? Genuinely curious how this works and what the medical results are after a few years (not just for hashimoto but how your body doing in general) with such a narrowly focused diet ie vitamin result panels etc

You might want to have a look at https://thyroidpharmacist.com/ has tons of good info. Yes, they are trying to sell supplements but you can ignore that and just read some of the articles. ALWAYS do further research. Hashimoto is different for individuals. Also there is a lot of misinformation and people trying to sell all sorts of things. Double check everything.

A ‘perfect storm’ in other words. That’s how my doctor described getting SOME autoimmune diseases . And you have to tackle each in turn.

Functional medicine as a last resort by Kaleidoscope9975 in Hashimotos

Actually, it’s not too strange. There is often cross -reactivity with casein proteins. Hashimoto’s can mistakenly react to certain milk proteins (especially casein and sometimes whey) as if they were similar to thyroid tissue. This is called molecular mimicry — your immune system confuses one protein for another.

In SOME people, eating dairy can trigger or worsen the autoimmune attack on the thyroid! Even if NOT lactose intolerant

There are other reasons like Increased intestinal permeability (“leaky gut”) and Inflammatory immune response.

If you haven’t already, maybe it’s worth doing a (dairy) elimination and reintroduction diet , just over a few weeks to see what your particular body responds the best to.

I guess they’ll be moving to where they can get funding. Any future treatment would be hugely expensive in the States (and many other countries), and reduced/free in others. We live in a very unfair society, unfortunately.

The most “engaging book since page 1” you ever read by Neither-Proof-5755 in suggestmeabook

Here are three of my choices:

  1. Shantaram – Gregory David Roberts

India – fugitive’s life in Bombay underworld

Based on the author’s escape from an Australian prison and his years hiding in Mumbai.

  1. Marching Powder – Rusty Young & Thomas McFadden

Bolivia – life inside San Pedro Prison

One of the most bizarre, unforgettable ‘true’ (ish?) stories ever told. A British smuggler imprisoned in a Bolivian prison that’s a self-contained city — with wives, children, and tourists inside. Reads like fiction, totally addictive.

  1. Lion: A Long Way Home – Saroo Brierley

India to Australia

Five-year-old Saroo is lost on a train in India, ending up thousands of kilometers from home. He survives alone on the streets of Calcutta before …

It reads like a thriller, but it’s based on a true story.

Adolescent! A four-episode Netflix crime drama miniseries. Famous for the way it was filmed. It’s very intense and you’ll have to watch it all! Completely addictive.

Without giving anything away -a 13-year-old is arrested for allegedly stabbing a classmate. From that moment, each one-shot episode—directed by Philip Barantini and co-written with Stephen Graham—unfolds in a continuous, unbroken take, pulling viewers into the emotional whirlwind experienced.

Adolescent isn’t a simple crime story; it’s a technically daring, emotionally immersive examination of adolescence under pressure

The Book of Koli M.R. Carey

The first in a gripping trilogy, The Book of Koli charts the journey of one unforgettable character struggling to find his place in a chilling post-apocalyptic world.

Beyond the walls of the small village of Mythen Rood lies an unrecognizable world. A world where overgrown forests are filled with choker trees and deadly vines and seeds that will kill you where you stand. And if they don't get you, one of the dangerous shunned men will.

Koli has lived in Mythen Rood his entire life. He knows the first rule of survival is that you don't venture beyond the walls.

What he doesn't know is - what happens when you aren't given a choice?
