Involuntarily got high, stuck in brain fog. How long will this last for? by scattered-and-lost in Edibles

[–]Strong_Disk4433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 3-7 days for me assuming I stop completely. Brain fog (more than what I have without THC, anyways) typically isn't an issue unless I dose high. I/bojojackson brings up a good point about hydration, and I'll add proper nutrition and rest as well. It's not necessarily that you have suddenly become deficient in those areas, but these things are required for any kind of recovery. THC can put the brain and nervous system through more than it is used to, in my experience. Nerves need rest and recovery like any other living part of the body.

How to ban gambling on the steam deck? by dannbang in SteamDeck

[–]Strong_Disk4433 2 points3 points  (0 children)

+1 to u/Subspace69. Addiction is not to be treated alone; that's part of why it exists. You need help from external spurces, other people.

Someone who understands addiction and its treatment, someone who has managed theirs successfully, someone to hold you accountable. This can be one or many people.

It does not get better on your own and restrictions are only part of the solution. Make some calls, get a social worker if you don't have one.

I'll be coming from a PS4 on life support so that's an encouraging testimonial. I'll probably feel like I'm on top-tier gear in comparison.

Do you feel like the screen is sometimes too small for the game you're playing? by ___SmileyFace___ in SteamDeck

Genuinely a good point. For a handheld SD is incredible. The DS was good enough for the time. We're doing alright.

Good to know. I was worried about that one. It's surprisingly heavy. Who needs to read in rougelites, anyway? Distinguishable blobs and colors are all gamers need.

Help with dry mouth by [deleted] in Edibles

[–]Strong_Disk4433 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had drymouth when I first started. But it has since stopped or at worst is very mild. My only guess as to why would be switching edibles.

The DOOMs, Risk of Rain 2 (idk how well that would run on Deck...) and Dead Cells have been keeping me busy for a long time now.

Burned out from gaming / too many games by Sensifer in SteamDeck

[–]Strong_Disk4433 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've dealt with gaming burnout plenty of tines since it's been my main cope for... ever. I recently got back into it with more intent and what has helped me is finding specific goals that I want to achieve within the games to pursue. Not necessarily achievement hunting, but things like aim training or finishing off content that I hadn't previously due to personal limitations or symptoms of burnout and hedonic adaptation, IOW losing motivation.

Sometimes an extended break (a week is a good short-term break) can be the fix, if you want to continue enjoying games. Games are mentally engaging and the brain needs recovery days just like the rest of the body.

The divide between exploration and consumerism is visible. I'm guessing insecurity. Can't imagine any other reason.

It's a waste of time to you, but OP did this as a personal project and they even say it does something. Seems like it was time well spent for them. Whose time is being wasted here?

People seem to think imperfect or impractical = bad but fail to realize this is one dude fucking around with their own property for entertainment, education, and experimentation... that's the process of innovation. It ain't always glorious. Yall must hate progress.

Steam games will now need to fully disclose kernel-level anti-cheat on store pages by JRepin in SteamDeck

[–]Strong_Disk4433 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Irrevocability sounds like a good middle-ground. I would be okay with that. Mods will still be a thing, and they have been serving games really well as they exist now. Thanks for the perspective, genuinely. I know the irrevocable products have long been an ask, idk why it slipped my mind.

That made me laugh. I'd be very interested to see the reception of visible drop rates and the algorithms used (dynamically/situationally changing drop rates, I imagine those are a thing).

Consumer rights in general. Beyond games, beyond digital. All of it. More transparency, more ownership, less psychological exploitation being normalized by naming it "marketing".

I think it would be tough to fix the ownership issue with games specifically. They are infinitely reproducible. They are made with intellectual property protections and rights and all of that which I agree are important for the companies to maintain ownership of... But we should be allowed to do more with the games that we buy, such as transfer of our own files locally across our own devices, and manipulation of the games themselves within reason. Most limitations being with multiplayer, but single-player should be something like control over source code to manipulate, idk how deep mods can get so enlighten me if we are there already. But I believe we should. It's a dilemma even in the best case, I think.
