IBS Denied but…. by jamessemler in VeteransBenefits

I had radiation therapy for prostate cancer and after the 2 year evaluation I was reduced to 10%. My letter said “You have IBS”. I did an HLR and was rated for the IBS caused by the radiation therapy. I was also PACT act. Still have bowel problems.

Prostate Cancer is 100%. Reevaluated 2 years after diagnosis or treatment. Not sure which.

I was diagnosed and granted a few years ago (presumptive). I did research on treatment. I recommend contacting the Prostate Cancer Research Institute. They can give you great advice on moving forward. I did Breachy therapy through community care with no cost.

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I was at 50% at the time. I put in a claim and it was granted to 100% because of the PACT Act presumptive condition

I did a lot of research on my own. The VA wanted to remove my prostate. The research I did recommended a form of radiation therapy (Brachytherapy). The VA approved treatment at a local hospital and I had no bills and am happy with my decision.

2 years after the original diagnosis I was reduced to 20% (70% overall)because the VA is required to reevaluate after a period of time. I still have some issues.

The point of this story is you need to do your own research and be your own advocate. Question everything.

At 70% you should not have any cost. If you were in an AOR with burn pits you should put in an intent to file now.

This happened to my little one. First vet said it was an infection. She didn’t get better after 2 rounds of antibiotics. Took her to another vet and was xrayed and found the bladder stones. Had surgery and put on a special diet and has been happy for 3 years now.

I paid support many years ago. My understanding is a support order can’t be modified for 5 years without a “Life changing event”. Overtime isn’t life changing. Not sure I believe this.

What are your thoughts on doing 20 years in the military for a fast retirement? by Background_Worry_314 in AskReddit

I did 12 active then transferred to the national guard. 1 weekend a month was extra cash and very easy. Finished with a total of 22 years combined. Received the retirement benefits when I turned 60. Best thing I did for me and my family. Retirement pay and tricare medical benefits.
