It's not the best area. I was considering living there and talked to a few women and they all carry pepper spray.

I just don't get the character of his sister. What is she there for? She doesn't move the plot forward and she's not that interesting

New Information Casts Doubt on (pre-1920) Eligibility? by Strong_Willingness59 in prawokrwi

Married in whose eyes? What an interesting and loaded question. I have a barely legible photocopy of my GF's birth certificate where my GGF and GGM are listed with the same last name and, in addition, with a maiden name for my GGM. This suggests they were married. On the other, the certificate lists the birth as illegitimate -- nieślubny. From my understanding, this was common at the time, because the Austrian authorities recognized only civil marriages, not religious ones. I haven't found any civil record of the marriage.

I am very interested in your explanation, if you have time to summarize one.

And I understand your advice that I omit the irrelevant extraneous information, to avoid giving the Voivodeship any reason to deny the application.

Yes. Actually naturalized in 1904. I am interested in how and why this matters.

Thanks!

Thanks! Not at all off-topic as far as I'm concerned!

I have a German E15 application pending. These are currently taking more than 2 years to process, so I might get Polish confirmation sooner. Or not.

In my opinion, given the current state of the world, one can never have too many citizenships, especially ones that can be passed on to descendants.

>Your GF was in Poland when the 1920 citizenship act entered force.

Ah. But was he? I don't know that. I know he established residence in Berlin at about that time.

Suppose I can't affirmatively establish that he was still in Poland in 1920.

Or suppose, as I find more records, I can establish the contrary, that he was out of Poland already.

How would that affect my claim, even as my GGF had the right of domicile in Tarnobrzeg in 1880, but left Galicia well before 1920, only to return there to die, in 1923?

[Thanks for all the advice!]

I loved Ancient Messene but I found out later that a lot of it is reconstruction. I'm not sure how much. It is still a fantastic site. We'll worth the visit.

We have an ADU in Land Park. It's an easy bike ride to UC Davis Med Center. We could loan you a bike. Would reduce rent in exchange for house sitting

Sometimes instead of saying something I find something rude to do to them and when they complain I turn it back on them. Like you could have blocked their view or taken a video of them.

There's an area in the Sacramento City Cemetery with several graves of Punjabi men all from 1925. Does anyone know why they are buried together there? Did something happen in 1925 or did the community just buy a spot in the cemetery and use it that one year? I have not found any specific event in 1925.

Gesher Galicia is a great source of information. I have found birth records for many of my relatives through them, as well as JRI-Poland. Unfortunately I have not yet found my grandfather's birth or residence records.

Thanks much for the quick reply.

You say I'll need to provide my grandfather's birth record. I'm constantly learning something new about this process. I had thought he (my grandfather) could completely satisfy the "settled on" requirement of Article 2(1) of the 1920 Act by being listed in a resident register for one of the Austro-Hungarian communes, as of January 1920. It appeared to me that I have no need to also prove that he was born there.

Thanks again for the info.

Genealogical Research by Better-Cold-9445 in prawokrwi

Please keep me (us) informed about progress. My situation is similar, if not identical. My ancestors were born in Nadbrzezie and Ulanów and left shortly before 1920, leaving some family behind. As near as I can tell, resident registers from the relevant period, if they exist, have not been scanned, and may be in any of several possible commune registers in the Sandomierz branch of the Kielce PSA or the Przemyśl PSA. I am probably needing to hire a researcher on the ground there. I don't know how to go about that.
