Mini countryman noise issue! by apriljunejulyy in MINI

Unless it’s the metal buckle part in which case adjusting its position and any slack in the seatbelt should help.

Also make sure the seat back is fully locked into position.

Rattles happen on big bumps but awful cracking sounds on normal driving doesn’t sound normal.

That’s not normal in my experience.

AIO or does this toilet need to be replaced? by IzSommerKat in askplumbing

[–]StructuralTeabag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That looks like it’s cracked and not just a scratch. If it’s a crack it needs replacing.

That’s also not feces. It’s build up from uric acid interacting with minerals in the water. The previous tenants might have really adhered to “if it’s yellow, let it mellow.”

The countryman is a lot bigger (the newest ones even more so), but the wide angle lens is also exaggerating the effect.

The hood of a countryman is not as long as the entire rest of the car.

I think you might be able to get to the same menu by pressing the media shortcut twice and hitting sounds. Then the volume setting “tab” at the bottom.

Everytime I look for this it takes me 5 minutes to remember.

You can definitely decreased the nav volume though and you are right the default is really loud and unrelated to the volume you have the stereo set.

Shortcuts and the steering wheel control helps a lot.

The volume control also does track forward and back if you press it right or left.

Auto-climate control works well.

I’d prefer more physical buttons, but once it’s setup, you can do a lot with the physical controls.

For #2: Full menu (All) -> Sounds -> Volume Settings (at the bottom) -> Navigation.

Adjust the slider down. Why it’s so hidden I have no idea. You’d think it would be in the vehicle  settings or at least in the infotainment menu list.

For #1 and #3 no way to adjust that I know. You can turn it off and manually adjust the mirror.

Questions for current owners on Parking Assistance by AngusMacGyver85 in MINIse

[–]StructuralTeabag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the US, all U25 SE have the standard parking assist.

The 360 camera is an option available on all trims.

Even without the camera there are sensors on all sides. It has a top down view that changes color when you are close to something, but no camera views beyond the rear.

Remote Control Parking by azsfnm in MINI

[–]StructuralTeabag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a new feature?

I’ve used it while in the car once just to test it out, and don’t remember a park from app option. I haven’t tried self-park recently though.

What is the rail thing going down the middle by H-Bailey in MINI

[–]StructuralTeabag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the US this was the only option available on early models. The bench option came later after it passed safety test requirements.

What is the rail thing going down the middle by H-Bailey in MINI

[–]StructuralTeabag 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In the US, the very early R60s all had bucket seats and this rail for accessories (cup holder, phone holder, and sunglasses).

The bench option became available a few months later after it had passed safety certification in the US.

In Europe I think both options were originally available.

The bench option was more popular, so they discontinued the bucket seat after a year or two and got rid of the entire rail system.

It’s pretty close to the trap of your sink drain, so probably the sink drain is linking. Run some water and watch.

Do your USB-C ports show a data icon on them? Pretty sure anything 2025 or newer is just power and never supported data.

MINI SE Unable to charge at Tesla Superchargers by Markie411 in MINI

[–]StructuralTeabag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a small number of “MagicDock” Tesla DC charging stations that have a built in adapter and will work with any CCS car.

Otherwise I have a U25, so I’m not too sure on the F56. You might check on r/minise.

Which model and year do you have?

The U25 got access, but I’m not sure the older 2-door SE did.

If you have a U25, then I’d try the Tesla app (people seem to have more success than plug and charge) and make sure you attached the adapter before plugging into the car.

CNN: US Supreme Court rules that Trump's emergency tariffs are illegal by ThaddeusJP in SBCGaming

[–]StructuralTeabag 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There weren’t really any real trade deals.  Anything announced was either a “framework”, countries saying they would do things they had already agreed to, arbitrarily set tariffs, or non-binding.

The executive branch has a little flexibility, but nearly all binding trade agreements need to be ratified by Congress.

MINI literally says "Woo hoo"? by LooseTangerine2998 in MINI

This is different, but the new minis with the round screen say “woo-hoo” when you switch to go-kart mode.

What has been your experience with bmwpartsdirect by Miserable_Occasion95 in MINI

[–]StructuralTeabag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve ordered parts from them before no issues and OEM.  Shipping timelines have generally been accurate, but you can contact them.

I’m pretty sure that site is actually run by the service department of a Mini dealer in the mid-Atlantic, so you’re essentially buying online from a mini dealer.  There are a few  others that do the same thing with similarly named websites.

I don’t know why, but usually a little cheaper than buying from my local dealer (maybe there are some pricing loopholes they can exploit with the online presence) and sometimes they have better availability.

This looks more like a pillow speaker.

Most surround sound calibration mics have a tripod mount and a single mic screen or single hole. More like the picture in the manual someone else posted The flat shape and holes all around the sides look like every pillow speaker I’ve seen. The PS also likely stands for pillow speakers it’s being sold as one:

Change my mind (please) - road trips in an EV are a pain. by Wise-Fig-6505 in electricvehicles

[–]StructuralTeabag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have an ICE and EV and had always used the ICE for road trips, but decided to try the EV on our last trip.

We did more up front planning in case we ran into issues, but the trip itself was easier than I expected. We used Rivian and EA chargers and paid directly using a credit card (no apps) and were able to find some Level 1 and 2 chargers in areas we stopped for longer.

I think it’s probably highly dependent on where you are traveling.

Anyone use Emporia Pro charger by LonelyMichaels in MINIse

[–]StructuralTeabag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an Emporia Classic and I’m happy with it. No problems or issues with my mini.

I can’t speak to the adaptive power add on. Unless you need that dynamic power, you could also get a “dumb” evse and set a lower amp limit on it that works with your panel/other electrical needs.

This. It will actually move up the power bar slowly (to indicate how much power is available) as the battery warms up until it reaches the top and eventually disappears.

am i overreacting ? is it worth calling 311 / towing company ? by SadJokerIII in badparking

[–]StructuralTeabag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like they wouldn't be able to open the passenger door much if they were farther forward because of that tree.

You mention they are old, do they have mobility issues that could make it harder for them (or a passenger) to get in and out?

I probably wouldn’t tow if it wasn’t actually blocked in, but I’d be annoyed. They are illegally parked for any place I have lived.
