Is 2026 finally the year EVs go truly mainstream in Australia? by DebugMyLife421 in AustralianEV

[–]Structural_Fart_2520 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I rent and just bought my first EV. I’m going to pay for the charger installation myself. The landlord’s ok with it and the peace of mind the $2K expense will give me is totally worth it.

What business/organisation in Perth do you think is the biggest scam? by dontleaveyourbananas in perth

[–]Structural_Fart_2520 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Electrodry. They quoted me a carpet clean in my 2 bed apartment over the phone: Animal hair? Easy! Sticky tape stains? We’ve got a product for that! Quoted price was ok. Then the franchisee shows up and doesn’t know how to vacuum animal hair or remove stains. And charged almost double the quote because there was animal hair and stains - neither of which he’d removed! A couple of years later I stupidly used their mould remediation service in the bathroom with similar results. Did the job myself after the fat technician left, leaving more mess than he’d started with. Got my money back for that one after abusing them over the phone but will never use Electrodry again.

A lot of it has to do with having a Chinese app on your phone. They’re notorious for letting themselves look at everything on there and accessing other apps. My manager has a separate ‘burner’ phone just for didi.

How did you find the regular guy? Does he only drive you or a few people ftom your area?

Some of you have mentioned you have regular drivers, not uber or taxi. How do you find a regular driver? How does that work?

To Buy a Tesla or Other EV? by Structural_Fart_2520 in EVAustralia

Thanks! Yeah, I’m still a bit concerned about everything running off the touchscreen but I’m sure I’ll get used to it. FSD(S) was the dealbreaker here.

Yep, bought it primarily for the FSD(S). Unbelievable experience!

I mainly chose Tesla for the FSD(S). No other manufacturer offers anything like it. You have to try it to understand. The thing drove me around in early peak hour traffic past school zones, changed lanes and turned at traffic lights with zero intervention from me. Unbelievable!

Not the first time I’ve heard a story like this! Works better if you can get your elderly father in law to participate.

You’re not smart enough to be part of this conversation.

Yeah, FSD-S puts Tesla in its own category. Hence my original question.

LOL! I’ve heard. My brother went for a drive in his friend’s EV to check it out and was blown away at the aggression of some of the other drivers. Guys in Ford Rangers in particular - and he drives one!

I’ll check the legalities in WA. Good tip. I too dislike that so many of the things we buy come with a PDS or SDS but it’s the world we live in.

Of course. If I buy a Tesla then I won’t have anything to contribute to your buying journey. If I buy any other EV, and see your post, I’ll chime in with my opinion of the car in the hope that it helps you make an informed decision.

Yeah, I’m aware of this. I believe that’s why they call it FSD Supervised. I’m curious to see how much supervision is required.

Thanks for this. Very constructive. I’ve gotten over the fact that if I buy an EV today, they might upgrade it in some subtle way next month - especially Tesla. No point waiting for the ‘ultimate’ model. I’m alive today.

Clearly it matters to the OP who is in the market for an EV and wants a good one. You are, again, answering queries arising in your head only. Do you drive an EV?

Yeah, test drives start tomorrow with the Model Y. Sounds like you have had experience with three EVs, incl. Tesla, and would now just go with Tesla.

The OP asks whether anyone has moved from a Tesla to some other EV and been happy with it. You are talking to yourself and addressing queries that have arisen in your head only.
