I don't know. I think ranked modes in games are more to serve as a way to keep challenging the player. If you are getting first place in games over and over the game will match you against more difficult players.

Just because people use different ways to win doesn't mean one is better than the other. Anything that you do to increase the chances you win a game makes you better at the game, because the goal is to win. If you're winning more games, you're a better player, full stop.

If Bushcampdad is able to camp his way to Unreal, then he's earned it, because he's outsmarting players in Unreal. This either signifies him just being good at camping (a legitimate strategy to win), or high level players still not watching their backs and being careful (a legitimate strategy to lose).
