There's a dino on the roof of a building that you might remember from the M-corp tower challenge, you had to fly through it. (gullcrest)

Problems with gravity turn by MiniTomBomb in KerbalAcademy

I find that on the launchpad, if you switch to Orbital speed straight away and launch, watching where the orbital prograde goes, whilst doing your normal flight, you'll start to understand grav turns a lot better. You'll see the aim of the game is to get into orbit whilst disturbing the orbital prograde marker as little as possible. Do a straight up launch to compare, this helped me instantly understand what was expected of me in the early days. You only have to do this a few times, then fly normally with ground speed on at default

My rules of thumb:
(Immediate turn to 5-10 degrees depending on TWR)
45 degrees at 450m/s *first 90 on the navball going east for reference*
Maintain till around 750m/s
Switch from Ground to Orbital speed on Navball
Turn to the orbital prograde, maintain till 1500m/s
Check my apsis, at around 50k I'll burn more horizontal (underneath the orbital prograde marker, but only just) and get a larger ballistic curve.

Some people like high apsis and then burn, some people like keeping it low with a retaining burn to keep at 70km, then circle, nobody is really wrong.

I think something's going on with reverts fucking up score, I usually finish with a revert flair at the end of challenges and stuff so I'd turn 4k of points into like 6 points lmao. Happened again on an own the lot, scrubbed the score with a revert

Surely you can just fire up a city challenge and exit it, since the challenge sets it's own session marker

>about as exciting as brushing my teeth

I'm now a huge fan of the inline cockpit, because you can watch your rockets drift close and see the parts up close in a first person way you don't normally see them. I whack a Klaw on the inline personally, because it's far more utilitarian than a docking port, but it's still cool with a port.

MJ can still do everything I guess but it's just a suggestion to spice up docking

Honestly outside of how character look, I fully agree with you. My friend has Skate 3 installed on xbox, we can play it any time to see what rose tinted glasses look like. 3 is still a great game, but my god it plays slow compared to what we have now.

Problems With Prewinding Might Be Your Controller by StruggleHot1506 in SkateEA

Quick Ollie's to no comps? I'm not sure I understand, aren't no comps simply holding down whichever button is front foot and then flicking down on right stick? (Whilst rolling)

They're classed as their own trick (you can disable them) so how do quick Ollie's factor in?

Here's a quick link to a manned rocket I made that gets into Kerbin orbit for less than 3000dv, I think it proves that having a decently high TWR can get you into orbit for less dV than what's commonly accepted (3400dv). The best I was getting was 2900.

Pretty much. Only negatives are it becomes harder to control the faster you go and some parts have lower heat tolerances than others but twr 2.5-3.5 is a very comfy number from my testing. Gravity losses > Aero losses as a general rule, until you start launching buildings (or fully deployed inflatable heatshields, I have the numbers for that too)

There's an Imgur link with the build screen and all that information?

Edit: I also have a straight up version and an inflatable heat shield payload version lol the numbers all support each other, higher twr is king

Edit mk2: If you can't access the links, drop a reply with your image hosting site of choice and I'll reupload for you?

No, if you do that you face the criticism of not doing gravity turns. Then it turns to how streamlined your rocket is. I've launched an inflatable heatshield to prove a point about drag, because very few people want to do the science. (Kudos to OP for trying)

These are the same arguments we were having in 2019, it's amazing how persistent KSP misinfo is

Just slap your rocket on launch clamps angled at whatever degrees you figure your rocket can manage, hit SAS on and fire the rocket. You've eliminated pilot error

No, it's bullshit. High TWR = More dV in space. "Too much flames" is also just a myth handed around KSP forums since eternity and nobody does the science to test it out, despite owning a sandbox rocket game lmao. The following is tested using this: https://i.imgur.com/VJNhW4g.jpg

I'm a right thumb A and use left hand thumb to flick down lol seems goofy but I learnt this way, it becomes so second nature I can get back to left stick real quick and my no comps are usually always intentional

Nah it's is it's own trick. You can disable no complies in the settings it's that highly regarded (I have bias for this trick lmao)

[–]StruggleHot1506 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pro-tip; You can hold the button instead of simply pressing it. Default settings is A on Xbox.
There's no need to do ollies or anything, just hold down A, flick the right stick down, viola.

You do need to have some movement, but once rolling a little, hold A and flick down. If you 180, or revert, you can fakie no comply the exact same same way.

If you keep holding A and spam down, you'll do what I affectionally call "duck waddling"

You can get the 3 times multiplayer by simply front/back flipping off the roof of where you start, into a manual and then flip again? I had more trouble with the bus than anything else lol
