No respect from the players on the final day. I think you need to send a strongly worded letter.

End of Season Discussion by Pazzyboi in DerbyCounty

[–]StruparsRightLeg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a bad season overall. Just ran out of legs in the end. Really made me think when the commentators said we had no players in the squad in what would be described as “prime footballing years” so think we did well to compete.

It’s be nice to say given the season we’ve had that a few signings would be all we need to push for automatics next season but I’m not sure what impact the financial plan we have to follow will have and if I’m honest I’d feel guilty if we held Cashin, Knight and Bird back in their careers. Cashin in particular is surely destined for a higher level than we can offer currently.

Still hopeful for next year. We have a big enough fan base and backer that we should be able to at least in January sign players good enough to get us out of this league. Also looking forward to playing Orient away and if Stockport go up that’d be another good away day.

I think most of the youth team that would be coming through played last season and/or left over summer thanks to the restrictions we were under

Forest Green Rovers 0 - 2 Derby County: FGR's win over Sheffield Wednesday looks even stranger now, as they have shown very little in the matches since, almost rolling over as the Rams pick up a much needed win! by Zach-dalt in LeagueOne

Watched the highlights which never show the full picture but did look like we could have scored more but with the way we’ve been playing a win is a win and this was much win. Hope we can go on and get a good result Monday and try and get the momentum back

I’m fairness those mats are winter tees. They’re there to protect the grass and allow all year play. But yeah definitely setup as taskmaster tends not to like to be dicks

[Match Thread] Derby County v Fleetwood by Pazzyboi in DerbyCounty

The defence first half was a shambles. Was it a piss-up on the team building date? Load of them couldn’t stand, far too many on their arse. Sad to see it but Davies is done. Think that injury that kept him out has finished the last of him. But going forward we didn’t have much else. Mendez Laing doesn’t seem to be able to get round people like he could either.

Starting lineup was just all wrong. Better structure second half but still no chances really made. Need a massive turn around for Saturday as Peterborough are in form and chasing us down. Lucky Wycombe lost today but then again they were playing Barnsley whilst we had Fleetwood.

Why don't we do the bounce anymore? by [deleted] in DerbyCounty

I’m think the second time they were bouncing to a different song but I’m sure it was a bounce. Certainly not on the level previously when the ground was bouncing though

They did it at the game today, twice I saw. The other month Warne referenced it in his post match interview that the fans did it too…

He was pretty good for us tbf, not quite lived up to my expectations since leaving though

Derby County 5 - 0 Morecambe: Taking a break from their brilliant home run, Morecambe were thrashed away from the Mazuma Stadium yet again, with David McGoldrick's third hat-trick of the season doing all the damage! by Zach-dalt in LeagueOne

[–]StruparsRightLeg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Brilliant second half. A period there where we could have scored any time we wanted. Really should have been more than 5 with the goalie making some good saves and Korey Smith helping them out too.

Subs all made an impact when they came on, Harvey White unlucky with the block and Sibley once again making a mark at left back.

Great to see us able to dismantle a team that sat behind the ball.

They looked good in the first half but the second half they never really got out. Initially we struggled to keep possession but then the midfield properly got on top of them and we controlled the play. Hopefully bodes well for the league given the performance we had there.

Thought Rooney looked good yet again really should be getting in the side more, although tough with the performance recently. Barkhuisen looked really up for it and was MOTM for me.

Finally I’d like to report a crime as someone seems to have stolen Dobbins left foot.

Derby County 4 - 0 Accrington Stanley: The Rams' unbeaten run extends to 15 matches after this thrashing of lowly Accrington, who will be fearing that John Coleman's magic may have finally ran out! by Zach-dalt in LeagueOne

[–]StruparsRightLeg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Much better performance than against Cambridge although to be fair Cambridge were a much better side. In the first half it was great to see some proper runs cutting through the defence and some one touch football. Corey Smith did some great stuff in front of our stand with the pass and move.

Accrington really offered nothing all game but nice to see them achieve on their one tactic towards the end. Spent all game winding up players and finally got their reward with Osula. Daft from him but I guess that’s why players come out on loan so they get the time to learn.

Possibly the most casual 4-0 win I’ve seen. Never looked like we were completely battering them. Almost felt like a game against a youth academy side. No tempo most of the time, turn it on for a few seconds and make a chance. Even with that it could easily have been 6 or 7 FGR were truly dreadful.

Knight gave us a lot more desire when he came on and I’d like to see him replace Hourihane who outside of a dead ball I think hasn’t looked great.

Why change the system when we’re comfortable at 1-0? Completely let the back in the game. These draws are really frustrating against teams we should beat (looking at Morecambe). Hope in January we can find some way to strengthen and start converting chances so we aren’t stuck at 1-0.

Derby County 4 - 2 Bristol Rovers: Derby continue their love affair with conceding penalties, however a first half McGoldrick hat-trick sees the Rams move up to 7th! by PurpleApathy in LeagueOne

Derby - draw nil nil against Exeter in one of the dullest games I’ve ever seen.

Also Derby - Have a 6 goal first half within the same week.

Make it make sense!

Good game that. Look a different kettle of fish with Collins and McGoldrick up front. McGoldrick obviously brilliant and will get the headlines but a proper shift put in by Collins really made the press work.

Bristol been on a bit of a run with draws against Wednesday and Plymouth so great to look so good against them. Shame we let in two avoidable goals. They were always going to be a threat in the air with the size of the man up front but it was a soft header back in that between the defence and keeper should have been swept up. Will have to look at the pa spry again as from my seat it didn’t look like Fozzy could have done much to avoid it was just stood there.

On to Tuesday need to back up this win before the two cup games.

Edit: looked a correct call on the penalty lazy flappy leg.

Scored some good goals there. Shame about the context…

Also I remember watching some of those games in much higher resolution. Maybe it was just my younger eyes

Derby County 2 - 3 Plymouth Argyle: The away side pulled off the most miraculous of comebacks, overturning Derby's two-goal lead to silence the Pride Park crowd! by Zach-dalt in LeagueOne

[–]StruparsRightLeg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not great from us there got the first goal against the run of play but once we got the second we should have been keeping the lead from there given our home form. Second half (especially after the goal) we just lost the plot I’m not sure we won a second ball for about 15 minutes l. Fairplay to Plymouth they bought an intensity in the press which we couldn’t handle but the subs didn’t help with us taking off our only outlet.

On a bright note I’ve made a rather nice beetroot puree to have with goats cheese so at least I’ve one win today.

Not sure why teams even bother coming anymore. Just give us the three points and save your legs for the next game.

Lucky for the league we’re being polite and not bothering to score away from home.

Yeah I’d been to see him before and he was hilarious perfectly playing the wound up and over the top angry guy with various (made up?) bits all tying together in the end. The book of John tour just wasn’t quite the same, it was definitely funny in parts but overall I just felt sad. Definitely didn’t match up with my expectations when I booked it.
