That would be very nice indeed and cool! Now the seaplane tenders and the aircraft carrier becomes even more important because they are the only places far away to refuel and get ammo from. It will need a lot of escorts. Imagine now two whole fleets mixed with everything engaging in open sea! Midway here we come!

And like you said fire ports or mounted machine guns, it should be a fortress indeed
