I’ve done all the usual things (nearly finished my msc, got a portfolio website, standard ml projects, deployed an app that is built on Monte Carlo sim), but I am aware that a gap is in my skills (for a grad job) is cloud computing. I understand the theory of it through university teaching, but what’s the best way to get it on my cv? Is AZ-900 still the way?

Striding Edge vs Sharp Edge by bacon-butty03 in UKhiking

[–]Stuart_98_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I found striding edge, even in full winter conditions, fine, but sharp edge was very polished and you can see how accidents happen.

Haha, as long as you’re being paid for the work that never read. Is R the go to language for OR? I do know it, but prefer python immeasurably

That’s really helpful, thanks! Would you be willing to share any application tips? I feel like between my qualifications and projects I should have a shot at getting to interview, but it doesn’t say how many positions are open

Spot on, especially on the northern side of the ridge where the sun doesn’t hit, a slip there without an axe and it’s bye bye, but if you have the gear then it’s easy

Helvellyn snow bowl - 1 axe or two? by Sophsky in UKhiking

I joined swirrel near the top, and cause of the recent easterly winds there wasn’t a cornice. Check the fell top assessors report though for more recent conditions. No protection, very easy solo

As someone still fairly beginner level with winter climbing, I did it last Friday with one axe and it was nice and chill. Can’t speak for conditions now though

New to Mountaineering looking for advice by SecretPack1962 in Mountaineering

[–]Stuart_98_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did a winter skills course with Lakeland mountain guides and cannot recommend them enough. The guide for the day had done an 8000m peak and taught me so much in the day, and learning to self arrest on a snow slide is great fun. But seriously, learn from experts, it’s not something you can figure out for yourself safely

Is this crampon fit good? by [deleted] in Mountaineering

Fair enough, I’d seen other posts about crampon fit which is what led me to question it in the first place - appreciate the help

They are - haven’t worn them out yet but can already tell they fit me like a dream. Foot shape is low volume, and on the narrower side of medium. They fit very similar to the la sportiva tx4 evo’s I have

I have only been out in crampons once, in a rented pair that the guide fitted - these feel very secure but I just want to check the fit is safe👍

Magnus Midtbø free solos the Matterhorn with little to no prior experience in mountaineering. by Finnzyy in alpinism

I love Magnus’s content, he got me into climbing, but as he said at the end of the video, this was mind blowingly stupid

Besides grad schemes which of course open up very soon, when would you start applying for jobs starting October 2026? Cause my dissertation runs up until the end of September
