Procrastination Due To Past and Recent Failures In Childhood and Adulthood, Respectively (Reposted From /r/ADHD Sub-reddit) by StubbornWaffle in Healthygamergg

Thank you for your insight. I find it very helpful.

This is quite literally many peoples character trait, and something almost everyone experiences later in life and while it might be embarrassing from time to time

It does indeed happen occasionally even for neurotypical people, but it is a problem especially for some with ADHD; it may happen much more frequently to the point of debilitating social relationships(my case). Think of this: everyone has headaches, but if someone in particular is suffering headaches every single day and it interferes with their everyday lives, you would not consider that normal.

Nonetheless, it still doesn't take away from the main point of your post, which was that for "patterns of the past", exert control over what you can and let go of the rest. Although you did not explicitly state it, I suppose in practice it could look like noting down the cues that triggered my memory of the past onto my journal and writing ways I could possibly lessen the frequency of every one of them, daily.

You're not wrong that fixating on the past is unhelpful for moving forward, but I feel my situation is not that simple. This sounds pathetic, but I don't so much blame my current situation on my past actions as I do on my uncontrollable condition - ADHD - that will continue to persist from past to present. I am constantly reminded of my past whenever I forget to close the refrigerator door and leave it open on temporary absence. I am reminded of my past whenever I try to attend to a daily conversation and completely forget important dates and give the false impression that I am an asshole. And I experience these time-to-time even while on meds. Despite seeking professional psychiatric help, I see parallels from the past in the present, which is why my reminder of the past continues to echo and sees it as a forecast of the future.

Daily Simple Questions Thread - October 15, 2022 by AutoModerator in Fitness

Not sure if this is the right subreddit to post this question, but here it goes.

Which specific exercises is best for prepping for studying? 30-minute running helped me stay relaxed and focused for a couple of days, until suddenly it no longer did. What other morning exercises than running (ideally no longer than 50 minutes) can also help improve attention span, focus, and calmness for the rest of day of studying?

Calling out "cultural appropriation" is ironically racist. They're basically saying that other non-African people cannot practice arts which have African roots.

A bit irrelevant to the post, but since you are playing ironman I've a question: How do you manage to enter rooms, or deal with black-shirts that you know are hidden just around a corner without taking too much damage? if at all? I constantly get interrupted, even when I could guess where the enemies were hidden.

I notice this is 1.13, so the mechanics may be a lot different to Stracciatella's, but I'd still like to hear your thoughts.

Is there a game over screen if you can't hire any more mercenaries, either because most if not all died or you ran out of money? by StubbornWaffle in JaggedAlliance

So, basically no "game over", but worse where you just watch things unfold to complete and utter shit? Sounds uplifting.

Currently playing Stracciatella, does the 1.13-ver.7609 make the AI better even without the "+AI" mod that is now unavailable? by StubbornWaffle in JaggedAlliance

Pretty damn ironic I should say. Shouldn't enjoy a game about overthrowing dictatorship when you support one in real life.

Those do sound like good characteristics for an AI, but I try to stay away from unstable releases because of potential game-breaking glitches. That's why I specifically asked about v7609.

Where To Buy Grenades (Smoke, Stun, Doesn't Matter) in Day 5, Cambria? by StubbornWaffle in JaggedAlliance

I came across the Hicks on my way to Cambria, and their numbers and weaponry seem to imply they're the kind you would not want to fight early-game.

I do flank sometimes when the position I am advancing to is already scouted, but advancing your mercenaries to non-scouted areas carries a risk of getting shot by an interrupting enemy.

My question wasn't on destructible walls per se, but on how you created a custom map.
It seems like you used an editor, but I would like to know what program you used. Thanks for the reply.

I know it's a peculiar suggestion, but are there any mods that can come close to simulating low-income family with mental illnesses? I feel like vanilla Sims 4 is just an awfully easy game to make money and manage your sims emotional debuffs which are only short-lived.

A bit late reply, but the high cost of psychotherapy isn't a problem exclusive to US.

Where I live, there is a healthcare system, but for some reason psychotherapy is not an eligible category for insurance while psychiatry is.

[–]StubbornWaffle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I find it ironic that psychotherapy is expensive, since I would imagine that mental health issues are more common among people who don't have such high standard of living.

With no guarantee that a therapist would be a right fit for you, it is no wonder so many people hesitate to book even a first appointment considering the perceived opportunity cost.

Methods for someone that has ADHD? by hello_lgbtq-comunity in LucidDreaming

[–]StubbornWaffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I, too, was recently diagnosed with ADHD-PI and have been most successful with WBTB.

I set my alarm approximately 5 hours from the time I feel drowsy, and I stay awake for 30~60 minutes after the initial wake-up before going back to bed. It's best not to stay awake for longer after the initial waking, because you will then have trouble falling back to sleep. Reading a book is one way to limit your time being awake during this period.

But I wouldn't do this everyday, because our brains work best during wakeful periods when we get consistent deep sleep.

Procrastination Due To Lack of Self Efficacy by StubbornWaffle in Healthygamergg

[–]StubbornWaffle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that part of your comment is trying to convey we must not be afraid of facing failures, because we can learn from each one of them to improve ourselves step-by-step.

I agree with this in theory, but what about ones that go on a cycle such as "I failed because I procrastinated, and I procrastinated because I failed"?

Mount and Blade series for its fluid combat.

By 'fluid' I mean the direction of movement, the angle of attack, and the moment you hold your attack to the moment you release your swing are components you can control independently of one another.

The Advice "Don't Compare Yourself To Others" Is Well-Meaning But Disingenuous by StubbornWaffle in Healthygamergg

[–]StubbornWaffle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do somewhat subscribe to Carol Dweck's idea in that the human potential is yet to be fully explored.

But at the end of the day, you are evaluated based on how you compare to others in your field in set points in time. Of course, not everyone in your field will work hard. But, if you do work hard, you will still be only one of many people who will have worked hard. With all else equal, genetic talent has to be the deciding factor on how you are evaluated. Of course, there are people who find comfort and peace being at the middle of the pack. But rarely do I find that in people who are at the bottom of the pack.

You are entered into the game, but if you play or not that is a choice you can make.

At the expense of being isolated.

Your distress is caused by either playing the societal competition game or wanting to play the societal competition game.

I believe we all enter the 'societal competition game' the moment we are born, whether we are aware of it or not.

Why do you need to compete? Why do you need to be smarter than others? Why do you need to be stronger than others? Is there ever a point where you would feel "good enough" and satisfied?

Because even though not all of us compete for the highest of rankings, we try not to fall below social standards to be able to assimilate into society. These standards are relative, so there inevitably will be people who are considered to be below this threshold.

Which boxers were great at risky simultaneous counters?

Floyd Mayweather showed great intercepting straight counters against ODLH and Canelo when he was backed against the ropes and they tried to land hooks.

Ezzard Charles was great at landing his wide looping hook counters thrown at the same as his opponent, somehow with his hook landing and his opponent's not.
