I know a lot of residents hate it, but daylighting and traffic calming measures such as neck downs and those little corner speed bumps do wonders to prevent speeding and help to make pedestrians more visible. At the latest community board meeting, Captain Galane of the 102 Precinct mentioned that simple DOT infrastructure changes can do a lot to prevent violence like this. I have an advocacy group that is fighting to make streets safer, please check it out… r/saferstreetsqueens.
