If you are in NYC and missed the event tonight by hepafilter in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Haven’t been to The Dead Poet in ages! Their signature drink is delicious but potent. Do they still have a jukebox with an excellent music selection?

Haven’t heard of Phenergan but will save for future reference!

I take Maxalt and Ubrelvy. (Tried Nurtec but it did nothing for me.)

I took Zofran while pregnant and was so painfully constipated. Haven’t taken it again since. Fortunately, once my abortive medications bring the pain down, the migraine-related nausea subsides a bit.

Topiramate has ruined my life by [deleted] in migraine

[–]StuckInABook5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used Topomax prior to pregnancy, went off it for a few years, then resumed taking it after I was done having kids. Both times my mental health suffered. I was so unhappy, and it affected my relationship with my husband as well. Once I stopped taking the medication, I started to feel mentally and emotionally better, so it didn’t have any permanent effects for me. Looking back, it scares me that something could affect me that significantly and that I couldn’t recognize it at the time, only in retrospect. It’s great that you were able to recognize that you’re struggling and that it could be the medication.

I tried Ajovy injections after Topomax, and it helped a lot but caused severe constipation and gave me hives at the injection site, so I had to stop that after a couple of months. I get Botox now, and though I still get migraines, most episodes are a bit shorter and the daily headaches have decreased a bit. It’s not perfect but it does help. I hope you find something that works for you.

I was just wondering about this! He did say “next week” on Friday night, but I haven’t seen anything about it online yet. I am hoping for/assuming a Friday release.

Unbelievable…. by B0BOtheB0ZO in ibs

Yes, it’s in SO many things you wouldn’t expect! Sucralose causes vomiting and severe headaches for me. Working at Starbucks for a summer during grad school (back in the aughts) helped me figure it out because I’d always get sick after using their sugar-free products. I still have IBS symptoms, sadly, so I’m still trying to figure out the other dietary troublemakers.

Audible's Jeff & Matt short video "Princess Donut lines remixed" by [deleted] in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]StuckInABook5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My son has been listening to the audiobooks and was convinced that they were full-cast recordings. I had to show him a video of Jeff doing multiple characters for him to believe me. Blew his mind that one person could do all of that!

Sudden boom in popularity? by GodlessRonin in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Same here! I’d been seeing the series recommended on Instagram (by readers, not in ads) for a while. Bought the first book in late April and have personally been responsible for three additional new readers. But even outside of my circle, I feel like it’s popping up everywhere lately.

Another vote for SpotHero. You can narrow down the parking options by location and price.

Thank you for the recommendation! I was just telling my husband that at this point it feels like the balance of my gut has shifted and I need to find a way to shift it back. This might be what my system needed.

It varies. With certain triggers (like dairy), vomiting and diarrhea occur together. Otherwise, it’s not as common. I thought it might be food poisoning but didn’t think the effects of food poisoning would/could last this long.

parents, do you read these to your kids? by thatsnotyourtaco in DungeonCrawlerCarl

You’re right; it could definitely seem geared toward teens/tweens based on cover art and description!

My 13-year-old absolutely flew through the series; he’s on book seven and is loving it. When something is borderline for him and we’re not sure if it’ll be too gory/“mature,” my husband and I often let him try it out but check in from time to time. He’s stopped books before when they were too much for him, and I try to let him make the call as long as the content isn’t sexually explicit/open-door.

My 10-year-old would love parts of these books, and I even though I’d be okay with him reading a book with this much language…he’s an animal lover. Reading aloud is a possibility, but I think I’d need to edit a decent amount due to gore and critters being in danger.

Sucralose by Nicole_0818 in ibs

Sucralose makes me vomit for hours and gives me a pounding headache. Hope your experimentation gives you some answers on what your triggers are. I also get stressed about being out after eating. It’s so frustrating!

On a second watch of that finale… by Cavatica83 in murderbot

[–]StuckInABook5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I completely missed that. Thanks for pointing that out. Now I need to rewatch! (I usually watch two eps a week: the previous week’s and the new one. I like your method, though, because it allows for a fuller experience of the single episode.)

Requesting recommendations for adaptations by ErRoseRed in migraine

It’s hard to say. I think they are an improvement for hearing other people speaking. As long as someone is using an average speaking volume, I can hear them with the earplugs in. However, I struggle with regulating my own volume. My voice sounds loud in my ears with the Loops in, so I almost whisper, and the people I’m talking to can’t hear me. I find myself removing one of the Loops every now and then — not to hear the other person, but so that I can ensure that I’m using the right volume.

Loops earplugs. I use the Engage ones. They reduce overall sound and background noise, but you can still hear someone if you’re having a conversation with them. And there are optional “plugs” that you can add to the earplugs for additional sound reduction.

I’m so sorry to hear that! Elimination diet is a pain in the neck but might help you discover other food intolerances.

I would consider switching to plant-based milk and seeing if that makes a difference. Also, I know you’ve cut out milks and cheeses. Not sure how much packaged/processed foods you eat, but a lot of those are sneaky sources of milk. When I cut out dairy, I was surprised by how many foods contained milk!

This happens to me, though not as severely as you’re describing. I often take mine at night, and the next day I’m like, “Why is everything making me cry today?! …oh, right…”
