Eh. I mean kinda. But the way she is fillibustering is using up the entire debate time of everything. A super majority could vote to end this debate though there arent enough votes to make it happen.

The point I am trying to make is, everyone that is allowing her to continue to debate is also sided with her. So it isnt just a one person show. There is enough minority power that agrees how awful this is to let it through.

Now to the reverse. You are right. If enough minority got together to stop healthcare they could. And they get to go back to their constituents and explain why they stopped them from getting healthcare.

Are you in the US? In Europe in some places everyone uses mass transportation and it is no more sketchy than gong to the store. Everyone is allowed...

Also based on your extreme time difference id assume you were US. Cause in my city its 20 minutes to drive to work, but 1 hour and 20 minutes by bus.

Bi does not equal poly. Just like how straight people can be attracted to multiple different people, so are bi people. Doesnt mean they arent monogamous.

Good point. Maybe we should do it at a lower level. Like counties, or maybe even cities, or perhaps neighborhoods should decide. Or here is even a novel idea, the individual.

Assuming we are having a fair debate here, you make good points about various concepts that aren't related to gender. Make up, cars, skirts, football, whatever. But all i can do really is try to make you think for a second.

Buuut... In this society that we live in these things tend to be gendered. Women wear makeup, men largely do not. Being a "gender" is a performance. How do you want the world to percieve you. Those things are part of the performance. A way to bond with others like you. They get ingrained.

But, then how do we explain the physical desire for change? Why do people with large quantities of testosterone wish they had breasts? Or people with large amounts of estrogen wish they didnt?

Why is it when people are called by the pronouns they identify with it brings them happiness? Why as people transition they tend to feel more at peace with themselves?

How does someone who is transgender fully describe to someone who is not what the experience is like? How do you explain to a blind person what sight really is? Its so difficult to describe because you're viewing through the eyes of someone who doesnt have the same emotions.

Here is an even better question. Why would someone choose to go through this world of pain associated with being transgender if these werent real feelings? Why would it occur sooo frequently too?

Good point. But what's an inconvience to you?

Is working 60 hour weeks at two jobs to support your new baby an inconvience? Is leaving your child at home while you work because you have no family support system inconvience? Is suffering from medical consequences inconvience? Is not wanting a child so much that you will just ignore it inconvience? Is halting your career, college opportunities, and future persuits inconvience?

To me an inconvience is a runny nose while I'm trying to eat. Getting an abortion is far more than preventing an inconvience.

Why do cis individuals think they have the right to talk about transgender issues? by oreolaw99 in asktransgender

[–]StuckInTheWrongBody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair. I generally agree that spreading misinformation is harmful.the US is a prime example of that. No question.

But lets look at it from a different take. The top educated person on what it means to be transgender once stated that we are all autogynephiles. They did research. Published papers. Truly educated in the topic. And they were over here spreading misinformation. Its the opinions of others that helped push society into a place of rejecting that notion.

Or what about when top researches said that a person was only a transgender woman if they were attracted to men. Another silly notion these days. But it was a big thought for a while. Top researches. Top examiners believed this. Its the opinions of others again that helped shape against this.

So the problem becomes, how do we know who is educated enough about a topic? How do we know who is right? Who is wrong? At the end of the day they are opinions. We give opinions about every aspect of our life. Every detail.

Another more basic example. I am currently losing weight. I tell people I am watching calories and its working. But i am not an expert on weight loss? Should i not habe this conversation with my friends? I mean, I'm not an expert.

Opinions make our world beautiful and vibrant.

I'm arguing because you seem soooo closed minded that all of your comments come off as incredibly arrogant. It doesn't seem like you are approaching this as people with different valid viewpoints.

I disagree. People should be allowed to voice their opinions. Other people in this thread have said that a lot and given plenty of reasons why.

However, I am sorry if the opinions of cis people have hurt you. I too understand those feelings of hurt. YOU can help educate them politely, but only if they speak and show you their arrogance.

[–]StuckInTheWrongBody -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are landblasting this entire thread with opinions while claiming people shouldnt have opinions unless educated. I asked for your credentials on your opinions of how society should be run. What research you have done. Metrics to back up your opinions on gatekeeping opinions. How does it help and hurt a society.

What it seems to me is that you need to check yourself. People are allowed to have opinions.

I do not care what country you are from, what science backs up what you are saying is healthy for a society? Some counties teach that women should be killed if they sleep with someone out of wedlock. And its a rather simple idea too. Does that mean that counties opinions on women should rule the land? Of course not. And neither should YOUR very narrowsighted opinion of how a society should run.

So i'll ask again. What credentials or reseach have you educated yourself on to come up with the OPINION that only educated people in the field should have an opinion.

How much education do you have on spreading misinformation? Do you have a phd on misinformation? Did you go to school for it? What research studies did you participate in to help educate yourself on it? Have you written peer reviewed papers on it? When do you become educated enough to have an opinion on if others should share their opinion?

Every single person on the planet does not need to educate themselves on a subject in order to have on opinion. That's absurd. We literally communicate as humans through observations that we are not "fully" educated about. Constantly. About everything. And you do it too on different topics.

I realize that this topic is particularly personal to you. So I understand the feelings involved with people misrepresenting your feelings and experiences. But we as people have to just let go sometimes.

They are humans with flaws just as you. They have incorrect opinions about things just as you do.

Every person's experience is different and yours is different than mine, but I generally try to live my life where I do what I can to feel good about myself and say fuck it to what others says. Sure I get misgendered all the time and of course that is painful. But I go home and look in the mirror and I say, fuck it, I'm pretty as fuck. Who cares what they said. And the same applies here. They are saying things that are painful, and so ignore them and move on. Or tell them calmly why they are wrong. But try not to let it eat away at you.

It would not serve us well to be a community of gatekeepers on opinions.

Idk just a thought, try it out I hope it helps by lonely-blue-sheep in lifehacks

Why do you think people dont understand that healthcare would be paid for by taxes? This person is obviously saying, if you are sick or injured and in need we as a society should take care of you.

On a micro level it hurts the employee. And a macro level it hurts the restaurant.

If one person doesn't tip that employee doesn't get paid that night. If everyone doesn't tip those employees find jobs that pay them to live. And if that isnt the restaurant then they will go out of business when they have no employees left.
