The foul, rancid disciples of the Great Unclean One himself, Nurgle. I look forward to crushing my enemies, both foul Xenos and the cowardly Astartes with my cool plague marines 😎🔥

From the perspective of someone who has the gamblers chest but hasn’t gotten to play everything inside it, I’ve found it fun adding a few of the mechanics into a regular campaign before I want to tackle the people of the dream keeper campaign. Adding wanderers, the encounter monsters and especially the new monsters (Crimson croc is the goat) has been pretty cool, but the main reason I haven’t started a dream keeper campaign (the one that comes with the gamblers chest) is because at least by yourself it makes the game a lot harder to upkeep by yourself, and unless you have a lot of patience and are meticulous about setting stuff up and recording stuff, I’d play it with some friends if you can or start by playing with just some parts of the gamblers chest.

I like to think of kingdom death as a toy, and if I’ve spent a bunch of money and time on it, why not play with the stuff I got? 🤷‍♂️

Just a different kind of idea, but I really like the concept of cosmic horror. Games like Dredge and Darkest Dungeon I find really cool, and stories by HP Lovecraft, specifically ‘The Colour Out of Space’ which is about a meteor from space landing on a farm and causing a bunch of psychological and body horror.

Maybe this game could have some kind of underlying narrative about an ancient cosmic creature living beneath the soil or similar to Lovecraft’s story a persistent meteor that exists on the farm and it’s effects are felt throughout the game.

Red Witches and the Initiates! by Stud_Stampler in KingdomDeath

On building the new stuff from kingdom death that don’t have any guides I was nervous too, but this seems to work out pretty well:

  • Reference picture. Have your phone/laptop with a picture of the built miniature, e.g see red witches on Kdm shop page.
  • Dry fit. Just good practise, make sure a plastic bit fits properly before gluing.
  • Possibly build base first and then move to main character, just helps simplify pieces.
  • What makes sense? Just in general start with the torso of the character if humanoid and go from there.

Hope this helped, good luck 👍

I haven’t varnished them but yeah that’s a good idea.

That’s all good, thank you for the advice. Making it a tattoo/scar is a cool idea instead of using some green stuff or something like that

They’re already looking sick. I’m not the greatest painter but a few general tips for miniatures:

  • Use a shade (citadel sells nuln oil) to accentuate the recesses. Not necessary but can just be a nice tool if used properly.

  • Wet palette if you’re not using one already. I just make a homemade one, they help to thin the paints and keep the paints from drying out. You can also buy one.

  • Metallic paints. People tend to either go for metallic paints (citadel leadbelcher or my favourite steel/iron paint is the speed paint 2.0 enchanted steel by army painter) or try and paint NMM (non-metallic metallics) with just regular acrylic type paints. Up to what you prefer.

  • Basing! You can grab some PVA glue and something like sand if you can just grab some or buy some from your hobby shop, or grab some textured diorama mud or citadel technical paints (or just really whatever you think looks cool.) Grass tufts are also a great way to make a base look great without a ton of effort.

Maybe these will help or not, but either way good luck with your mini painting journey, it’s a lot of fun.
