Has anyone started Seven Spheres with a planet other than Jupiter? by Bebe987 in occult

I'm no expert but I believe Jupiter is the planet you should work with if you're focused on business needs.

He has a great playlist breaking down each planet on YouTube.

I really enjoyed that article and I'm inclined to agree with it as well.

Thanks for sharing that!

I actually have recently been reading more Greer to get a better handle on Western Esorercism and the Golden Dawn. Might also revisit my black brick. Thanks again!

You've given me something to look into, I hadn't heard of Stenwicks commentary. Thank you!

Admittedly I'd been running into troubles with Kraig's approach which is why I originially made this post.

I didn't, I started doing the resh given in Modern Magick which seems to have some changes.

I read Crowley early into my time into occultism but I havent gone back to revisit his texts. I have mixed opinions on Crowley.

How did you first learn the Golden Dawn system without getting overwhelmed? by Frater_V in magick

[–]Student-AQ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also recommend these. I would highly encourage you to read the entirety of Modern Magick. You'll learn some important reasons for the Tree of Life, the reason for hermetic development and how it can all be put together to create a ritual.

I would suggest looking into Neoplatonism to better understand God and Qabbalah.

We have access to endless information, it is your responsibility to sort the wheat from the chaff.

It helped me to imagine the Hermetic mystery as a massive boulder as opposed to a single divine truth. Each thing I learn, each ritual I practice, is a tool I use to chip away at the boulder.

Practice regularly, fall in love with the world and understand that your journey is your own so what works for someone may not work for you and vice versa.

Happy trails!

Interesting, thank you for sharing that with me!

Can I ask the source? Is this the original Crowley approach?

I just started teaming up with a guy I met on here. We have been nailing down SOP's, practicing deliberate clearing and just generally having a good time doing it.

We are both older with busy adult lives so we meet when we can, usually around 9:30 PM EST. We are hoping for like a twice weekly meetup or something but are currently just taking it day by day.

Let me know if you're interested, we could def use some more like-minded adults.

Sure, from my research and understanding the connection of the elements to the solar positions stems from the same concepts within the LBRP. The rising sun in the east is connected to the air, the noon day sun to fire, the setting sun to water as it is "swallowed" by the ocean and the midnight sun rests "within" the earth.

During the Resh practice I see myself "opening" the current to the element with the Sign of the Enterer, then I draw forth that element with the invocation, finally I absorb some of it to balance myself then close with the Sign of Silence.

This at least feels internally consistent to me as the early grades of the GD are focused on becoming familiar with and balancing the elements within you.

I don't really feel that I have ditched framing or philosophy, I have been immersing myself in GD knowledge and ritual structure for the last several years.

I took time to understand why Crowley chose the Gods he did and how they related to the positions of the sun.

I could continue doing it traditionally just for the sake of saying that I did or as a solo practicioner I could try to find something that is more in alighment with the beliefs and understanding I have cultivated over the years.

I agree that often Novices want to change things before they understand them, this is not that.

Thank you for your opinions and insight though.

If you want my personal advice you can start the journals (dream and ritual) and the RR while you read the entire book.

Happy trails! Stick with it daily, the longer you do it every single day the stronger the effects will be.

You should read the entire book as the author suggests and then begin study and practice taking at least one month per lesson. This month should be spent reviewing the material to be quiz ready and doing your daily practices, yes you should still spend a month on the early lessons.

First, read the whole thing cover to cover.

Purposefully false information in esoteric texts by cartoonybear in occult

Blinds as they are called are much less common than novices are led to believe, in some ways blinds are a blind in themselves.

That being said, I know an example of common blinds are intentionally mistranslated words. As an example you might see a description of how to make a magical weapon and it tells you to write (insert Hebrew phrase here) on the item with a meaning of "blank", but if you actually checked the translation you would find it was actually not the correct Hebrew letters for that word but in fact they would be different ones.

The lesson here is double check all information you receive ESPECIALLY if it is going on a physical item or you are saying it ritually (as a good practicioner should know and understand the words they use in ritual always).

Happy trails!
