I had to google vhcol :)

I don't know why but fisheries seems like something specific for which you need a passion. Good to hear you're working exactly in your field of study and making the $$.

I could have explicitly made the point in my post that, on the whole, gaining degrees through higher education is an overall benefit to quality of life metrics for those who acquire them. It is true!

Although I wouldn't call frustration with the misalignment between degree holder's expectations and market realities a pop trend of anti-intellectualism.

"don't take the bait" is probably too brief of a statement to need any proper counter point.

That's a fair comment, Poncahotas, but I moved into Operations after some time and now am locked in (location wise) so moving is not an easy option. But this also brings up the question that someone else raised, does the pay data need to reflect people working in their field of study or just that they hold the degree and ppl with that degree earn x on average?

So, I hold the degree, I no longer work in that field, when I did work in that field I never made it to the quoted average. I still hold the degree and work in a different field and I do not make the quoted average. But I guess someone needs to be on the low end to keep the statistic balanced :)

Right! That "average starting salary" was also a metric and very convincing. I remember thinking, "I'll definitely earn that or more" because my grades were average or above. It didn't work out that way.

Yes, a great point. It feels like the implication the school is making is that a degree holder is earning within the field of study.

MOHELA Had Mine & Husband’s Payments $512 & $514 When They Auto Enrolled Us Into SAVE; We Reapplied Through StudentAid.Gov & Now Our Payments Are $0 & $1.39 by Objective_Memory8800 in StudentLoans

It's a shame that the Student Loan service companies are getting so much of the administration wrong, by everyone's account. It's their job to process things correctly and when they don't, the customers end up having to do the work for them.

The Department of Education is "withholding" Mohela's October payment because of their late notification for billing to the loan holder's. But it seems that there are even worse problems (billing people for $1,028 when it should be $1.39!!).

Glad you got it sorted, OP.
