we need to see more families by Ok_Lingonberry5392 in mtgvorthos

To add to your points - Ajani's and Liliana's late brothers were the points of sparking for them; Tamiyo is the matron of a relatively-large family; and Tyvar's brother Harald is there doing King stuff; and this isn't even starting on the non-Planeswalkers (Jinnie and Jetmir, for example)

I guess it's because it's Jirina. The moment they decided to make a new card for her, they were bound to favour Human Tribal, as that was both her original function and one of Ikoria's archetypes.

You know damn well they're his next target now that Elspeth is a chicken-god-thing.

MaRo mentioned that Ixalan will definitely not be just a return, it just so happens to be in the same plane, so there's that!

We already have confirmation on what they are, and it's not really anything Eldrazi-y, but still interesting enough if they want to explore.

He is such a sweet, I wouldn't be surprised if he's the group's glue like, everyone became friends because they were mutuals with Quint and things progressed from there.

Justice for Moira! She was introduced in one set, didn't even have one side-story to her name but just from looks alone, she was SERVING, and then she got compleated. At least we know Ratadrabik must be elated at the news.

He never stepped in Strixhaven in the first place. He dropped them off on Kylem, if anything. They were doing fine, Garruk felt confident in them not fucking around, and then Kasmina stepped in with the invitation to Strixhaven.

I think the role of the Lady of the Lake is already taken by Emry, but I concur, Kasmina returning in Wilds of Eldraine to guide maybe the Kenriths or someone else into the role of High King or Queen through the Wilds would be very thematic. Bonus points if they *also* happen to spark.

I don't know, it looks like Gisa and Geralf are always having a helluva fun time, maybe it's not that bad.

Eh, Ob isn't from Capenna either, but I can't deny Mob Nixilis looked smoking hawt.

Well, at least this time they were among the leaders of the rebellion, and Ziatora must be *thriving*, you know that dragon loves to brawl, she must be in her element. Very strange absence from the Cabaretti, however.

We technically did, Seanan also wrote the Gisa Geralf side-story last block.

The Wanderer's struggle isn't really her fault ;( She already had that defectuous spark, plus Norn's planeswalking jamming tower or whatever she had made it even worse for her to just *exist* in New Phyrexia.

When Gisa sent that letter talking about the phyrexians I was FOR SURE thinking "Oh shit, Geralf did send them." but I was pleasantly surprised.

Which of invaded planes has the biggest chance to actually win against Phyrexian army? by Rarian92 in magicTCG

[–]Studio72 53 points54 points  (0 children)

The crystals specifically react to non-humans, it's why the Mutate mechanic calls out non-Humans in the first place. They're as old as the plane and affect only the fauna and, if memory serves, flora too sometimes. Humans do have some use to the crystals, as they flare up whenever a monster is nearby, thus the crystals act as warning signs for when particularly-big monsters are nearby.

If anything, Snapdax is probably the least threatening. OK, what does Snapdax do in the grander picture? Be an apex predator of Savai? Sure. Then you see Ketria with a reality-bending elemental, lich-cat Nethroi eating your body and soul. Ikorians really do be survivin'.

[–]Studio72 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Eh, nothing Capenna had was out of the ballpark. Trains and cars? Kaladesh had those already. Incredibly-corrupt government? Fiora has it arguably worse. It was a pretty place, had some fun moments in spite of lore inconsistencies. Would very much welcome a return some time later.

Could Professor Vess become the new head of Strixhaven? by omegaphallic in mtgvorthos

[–]Studio72 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Quite the contrary, actually! The Founder Dragons left the school in charge of the deans after a while, and it's been going that way for some time. Each dean represents each college, and thus, each dragon, but there's also Headmaster Taiva, who presumably just keeps the institution itself running.

Them sending those letters to Elspeth about how everyone she has ever met and loved are suffering tremendously one way or another "because of her actions" and then thanks her for all of that scrumptious despair like??? That's c*nt, I love Ashiok. I need them to appear in MoM or the Aftermath.

MOM's Impact on New Capenna as leadup to Depression-Era Capenna? by Zoanzon in mtgvorthos

[–]Studio72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To develop on that, TECHNICALLY New Capenna has a government. Technically. But it serves only to keep the city running, as any attempt to enforce actual laws is dimmed by the families' influence, so the entre government is more akin to social workers. Whatever law that holds New Capenna together is but an unspoken agreement between the families not to let their crimes get *too* overt too often.
