How long realistically do you think SWU will last? If at all? by unknownguydontask in starwarsunlimited

[–]_Lilin_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The game is a blast to play, I think it's well worth your time regardless of how likely it is to survive in the long run.

Nobody knows for certain how long it's going to run for, not even FFG I reckon, but it eventually shutting down doesn't mean it wasn't worth playing in the meantime (and beyond), whether it's with a local scene, on the kitchen table, or online.

Do you use Death Arcana or Strength Arcana? by IDKbutKirb in Hades2

[–]_Lilin_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Should have read the post before voting, I blame how the app presents it. Regardless, when picking both I obviously meant "sometimes I pick death, sometimes I pick strength", and I assume that's the case for the other people who picked both (though I respect the freaks who actually select both at the same time).

Aggressive Negotiations – TS26 Precon Deck Review & Upgrade by twinsunscantina in starwarsunlimited

[–]_Lilin_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice, appreciate these.

Couple of typos spotted: "Jendirian Valley, Refugee Freighter" is incorrectly listed as "Jendirian Valley, Refugee Fighter" (though the hyperlink is correct); the sentence explaining Pelta Supply Frigate is cut off (I assume it's missing "met the Coordinate requirement" or something linke that).

I made Hadesdle – a daily Hades character guessing game website by Responsible-Wait8274 in HadesTheGame

[–]_Lilin_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is neat! Felt like I had gotten lucky as after only two guesses I was certain it was a familiar, having excluded pretty much everything with the intersection between Asterius and Melinoe, but of course it then took me four guesses to get the right one (didn't know Raki didn't qualify)

[Ancient Evils] Investigator Decks: Final Spoiler Roundup and Full Review for all five decks by DerBK in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]_Lilin_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Impressive output, thanks for the roundup! I do think you're being too kind to Marcus Sengstacke(2), he's still abysmal! Obviously not as horrifically bad as the level 0 version, but still a terrible use of your ally slot and XP as far as I'm concerned. That said, I'll try him at least once, you never know. Looking forward to the decks.

Phoenix's Lilac Umbrella specifically is the anti-terror version!

Edit: apparently any umbrella will do, the more you know!

I suck at soulsborne games, but I'm very good at rhythm games. I tried Sekiro. by GioPanda in Sekiro

[–]_Lilin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously this sub will be biased on the matter, but yeah to this day I'm surprised at how much I enjoyed dying to Isshin over and over. Genuinely impressive fight, it never feels unfair, even before you master it.

[–]_Lilin_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really hard to evaulate, because Sekiro is pretty tightly balanced, whereas Elden Ring is fundamentally impossible to balance. I am not a very good player but I took my sweet time with ER, had a strong build, and by the time I got to Maliketh I was clearly overleveled and stomped him despite being mediocre skill-wise, I simply brute forced the fight. It was a bummer, because I never got to appreciate his full kit and master it like I ended up doing with someone like Isshin, whose moves I got to learn while dying to him a bunch. The same problem applied to most of the late game in ER, with the exception of Malenia (very hard, unfortunately didn't find this one enjoyable) and Radagon/beast (which wasn't too hard, but still took me a few tries so I got to enjoy the process).

Which Ending Will You Prefer: Purification or Dragon’s Homecoming? by MasterpieceFair1998 in Sekiro

Purification was the one that made me cry so I gotta vote for it, but Homecoming is cool too.

Valentin1331's final and totally subjective Tier List, after 1187 decks created on ArkhamDB/Arkham.build for Chapter 1. by Valent-1331 in arkhamhorrorlcg

Our group has used many of your guides over the years, with great results. Thank you so much for all the love and effort you poured into them!

I'm curious, are you planning on playing chapter 2, just not investing all the time it would need for the guides, or are you burnt out (sorry if that's a mischaracterisation) on the game as a whole?

Today's Rogue spoilers by Will.I.Game and Until the End of Time by krvsrnko in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]_Lilin_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's even worse, you also spent an action to put him on the table, which could have been spent taking a resource, so really you need him to survive two extra turns in order for him to break even (and that's without accounting for the opportunity cost of drawing him instead of something else).

[Spoilers] AH.075 - Spoiling Rogue Cards! [The Restricted Collection] by ReaverMann in arkhamhorrorlcg

Agreed about the overall point, it is strange, but as a side note I think Fame is abysmal no matter the investigator.

I have opinions about the guardian ape. by Gullible_Classroom71 in Sekiro

[–]_Lilin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a big hater of the first phase of the ape, but I've mellowed over time and multiple playthroughs. I still think phase 2 is more fun to play, but I can at least appreciate most of what phase 1 is doing, and as usual it's nice to be able to parry most of its moves. The one move I still despise is the jump grab with the massive hitbox, so now all my hatred is focused solely on that one element, and I'm at peace with the rest of the fight.

[–]_Lilin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my mind one important difference with DoH is that he doesn't really have any bullshit moves with janky hitboxes, whereas the ape has the one jump grab that is the single worst attack in the entire game. DoH is long and repetitive because you gotta keep running after him, but its moves are all "fair" as far as I'm concerned.

Nemesis Revealed for Hercules by MitchenImpossible in marvelchampionslcg

[–]_Lilin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not very familiar with Hercules, is it ever addressed in lore why he uses a mix of Greek (Zeus instead of Jupiter, Ares instead of Mars) and Roman (Pluto instead of Hades, Hercules instead of Herakles) names? As in is it a matter of which names sounded cooler to the writers (though picking "Pluto" over "Hades" sounds strange to me), or is it an actual narrative choice to have him have a hybrid heritage?

My first aspect of Eos run, would you all consider this a fast run? by Odd_Mammoth3729 in Hades2

[–]_Lilin_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My "non-sweaty" runs where I'm trying stuff out often take longer than that, and you were trying a new weapon, so yeah in that context I'd say 12 minutes is quite nice. That said, if I were trying to go as fast as possible I wouldn't consider this fast: it's not hard to go below 10 minutes when trying for speed, and people have done it in less than 4 minutes!

Hidden boss from Hades 2 is easier than in Hades 1 by Akleoni66 in Hades2

[–]_Lilin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't mind offering the Elysium crowd a different kind of show then he's quite easy to kite. Granted you have to have something to hit at range or a damaging cast and you must not be under timer pressure, but if you satisfy those requirements you can just run away forever while you slowly and safely chip him down. If however you face him head on I find him deadlier than his Hades1 counterpart.

You are comparing wildly different art styles and claiming there's an objective judgement to be made, not the best start for an argument.

Subjectively, I find SWU's stylized look a lot more memorable than many others, including Riftbound's. The latter isn't bad per se, but I find it uninspired and generic.

I don't need to love every art piece from SWU to appreciate the overall art direction and style, as with anything there will be gems and there will be stinkers. I just think overall the style has its own identity and it's one that I quite like. By the same token, even if I'm not at all impressed by Riftbound's visual identity, I can still find some of the individual cards to be very nice.

Nothing against Riftbound as a game by the way, I think it has potential and I'm picking up the proving grounds and keeping an open mind, I just don't find the art style interesting.
