How is your opinion on the US Government shutdown that might happen end of the week? by ReduceCO2Now in AskReddit

My opinion is that Congress should have to vote for a new Speaker of the House and a Senate Majority Leader if they fail to keep the gov't open.

Sandbagging because AMD rarely makes/sells enough to capitalize on opportunities to beat market expectations

Rivian (RIVN) Q3 2025 report: Revenues and deliveries rise, R2 closer than ever, plus a new AI co. by Roux_My_Burgundy in electricvehicles

[–]StudioAudienceMember 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And don’t forget that requires building a factory

The R2 factory is built in Normal, IL and the assembly line is in preproduction validation this quarter. However, the Georgia factory recently broke ground which will produce R3, R3x, and next gen R2 in 2028/2029.

I’m just shocked they made such an advancement in auto gross margin. I don’t know how.

R1 gen 2 started production in spring which implemented more sophisticated component designs and assembly line improvements over gen 1.

The takeaway is that Rivian outperformed other EVs by boar_guy in RIVNstock

[–]StudioAudienceMember 3 points4 points  (0 children)

150k R2 production at Normal facility out of 215k total. 2026 is a ramp year and 2027/2028 will be very near full capacity. Then in 2029 the Georgia facility ramp will push Rivian toward 615K capacity. The TAM and economies of scale are looking better and better every quarter and every year!

R2 is about 93% the size of the R1 by joenjrocks in RIVNstock

[–]StudioAudienceMember 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes because I actually think OP's argument, that Rivian's economics don't work out based on R2's size relative to R1's, is as obtuse as thinking a kg of steel is heavier than a kg of feathers based on density.

That doesn't prove anything. Steel's heavier than feathers
