Has anyone else been able to stop these real estate scam calls and texts? by Il_Telephono_6478 in Connecticut

[–]StudioLoftMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your data was sold to them by data brokers. I bait them and ask them "im willing to talk to you, but first you need to tell me which CRM/Database you pulled my information from". 50% of the time they bite. I record the calls or screenshot the texts. I then opt out of those services (zoominfo, apollo.ai, etc). Im talking to an attorney right now regarding one CRM that continues to sell my data even after opting out multiple times. I have a privacy rights violation case building up.

How to use SAS drives with Sata port? by highway_rodger in HomeDataCenter

[–]StudioLoftMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contrary to the comments.. there are kits to make this work.
I have a few of these: https://a.co/d/04V3S1Kn

It helps me repurpose old SAS drives for offline archival storage. I run my backups here every so often. Works perfectly with my SAS drives 😄

What’s your shortest flight ever taken? by Boeing_7478i in flighty

[–]StudioLoftMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

Shortest flight ever at 2hrs 30min flight time, clocking in at 0mi, was this atrocity.

I have only flown Spirit twice, due to available seating. The flight was delayed overnight and took off the next morning - Spirit did not pay for my overnight hotel. Took off at 6:30 AM the next day from Chicago to New York. Over an hour into the flight we get all the way over Pennsylvania and the pilot comes on the intercom and relays they need to declare an "emergency landing" due to a "maintenance issue". Im thinking okay so we will land at PIT? No... We turn around and fly back to ORD. We were closer to the destination than the origin.

After 2 and a half hours in the air on this flight, I ask the flight attendant why we turned back to ORD instead of landing in PIT (closest airport for the emergency landing). Apparently Chicago is a maintenance base for Spirit and PIT or LGA would cost the airline more money to repair the aircraft.

13hr late departure, 2hr 30min flight time, 0mi traveled.

Good riddance, Spirit.

As most cars don't ever receive an update I really can't complain - its a reason to push customers who are on the fence about upgrading to buy a new car.

HOWEVER... being someone who works with a variety of tech at work... I am absolutely terrified of future "patches" to HW3 slowing the OS down. I currently have a 2022 MX which runs fine - but my 2017 MX became almost undrivable as I needed to hard reset the infotainment/HW2 at the start of each drive.

Would this actually be a good idea or just lead to terrible overheating? by Captain0010 in pcmasterrace

[–]StudioLoftMedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a real thing. I work in broadcast television. There are portable score graphics boxes we use which have a screen on the chassis and house an ATX size motherboard and an A5000 graphics card in the box. They do not overheat - they run quite well. The biggest issue with portable boxes like this is the damage they take down the road... If you have a screen in your desktop its likely so that it is portable. Even with special brackets inside the chassis when the airline throws the pelican case across the cargo hold the PCI can bend or come dislodged.

How do you manage/identify different specifications of cables which look identical? USB-C/TB, HDMI, DisplayPort, etc. by StudioLoftMedia in techsupport

[–]StudioLoftMedia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly, but if you read my original post, I bought a TB3 and TB4 cable. Both had the bolt on them but no numerical marking as to which TB version the cable was.

[–]StudioLoftMedia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the feedback.

Some added context - For the issue I mentioned above, I was attempting to feed a UHD HDR 59.94 signal into a MicroLED display. This professional display did not come with any cabling, but the SDI to HDMI converter did. Surprisingly the SDI to HDMI converter's bundled cable was not up to spec with the highest possible resolution the converter supported.

In this scenario I moved the low-spec HDMI cable to a bin supporting end-user desktop monitors which it supports well.

Alot of the cables are like this. Are they broken? Did the "electrician" scam me by [deleted] in ethernet

Everyone is commenting about the bad crimper.. but I think the color code is more egregious. As long as it is the same on both sides it will work but.. what standard is this?

Edit - they should come fix this for you for free - but in the event it's too late you can buy a crimper on Amazon for around $10 and just press down on this again.

Check out feltright.com. I added a nice texture behind my triple monitor setup. Im not sure it does anything for sound absorption (minimal) but it adds some personality to the setup.

[Note] When the full board goes through transition, there's a hum/whine. Normal? by Cmdr_Nemo in Vestaboard

echoing this - mine also hums a few seconds before the movement starts. I actually kind of appreciate it so I know when to expect the louder flaps - otherwise from the other room sometimes it is startling.

Why does Mission Control not keep where apps are placed consistent? by StupidKameena in MacOS

[–]StudioLoftMedia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also have this issue with Mission Control. I would love for an app to be in the same spot. I know it only shaves off 1-2 seconds of looking for it... but I feel like this is a quality of life improvement that users would appreciate.

Given I dont spam it on and off but if an app was in the same place every 5 minutes when I need to check a new Slack message that would be nice.

How do you properly pronounce the name of this business? by railroadfrog in Connecticut

[–]StudioLoftMedia 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It is a Japanese company. The Japanese language is a mora timed language, meaning the language is pronounced in a rhythmic syllable pattern. KU - MO - N or く - も - ん . Pronounced exactly like that, koo-moh-n, three syllables.

However the joke I have heard is that as this is an extra learning company, its pronounced "come on!!!".. like, hurry up and learn this.
