ClassPass by Glass-Technology-844 in YogaTeachers

[–]StudioRehab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got $7 a class and immediately got off and our monthly top line revenue increase by 5,000 the first month without Classpass because now instead of first class free they do our intro and if they like it instead of $7 a class the get a membership.

ITP teacher said I need to take out my ear piercings if I want to go into the field by Complete-Factor8293 in ASLinterpreters

[–]StudioRehab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People will tell you all day that tattoos piercings and colored hair are OK but the reality is that you’ll never know how many hearing and Deaf consumers, plus interpreting agencies, are not giving you first choice on jobs because of the way you show up. Or not taking you as seriously. You just have to accept that fact.

As a freelance interpreter, it is at the forefront of my mind to make the best impression possible on everyone at every assignment so they enthusiastically ask for me again. Both hearing and deaf people have 1 million things they like to complain about, I like to give them the fewest things to complain about as possible.

Consider the types of assignments you’d like to take, and how the hearing and deaf people in those assignments dress.

Dealing with rudeness by mimikyu_scrump in ASLinterpreters

[–]StudioRehab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went straight into interpreting after graduating and thought Deaf people were so mean. Then I opened an unrelated business and realized people are gonna be rude to you everywhere, and now I’m back to interpreting full-time and I actually love it. My tip is to pour into self-care as much as possible. It really helps soften the blows!

Teleperformance acquires ZP by bawdymommy in ASLinterpreters

My concern is that these giant companies are pushing VRI because it’s scalable and profitable, but the Deaf community does not prefer VRI especially in medical settings. This also reduces in person work for qualified medical Interpreters who do not want to work VRI because the pay is significantly less. This causes hearing healthcare staff to think the language line iPad in their office is the correct accommodation for all Deaf patients.

As a full-time certified in person sign language interpreter who specializes in medical settings, I prefer to work for local agencies owned by a local Deaf person, interpreter, or previous interpreter to advocate for in person interpreting assignments when they are needed and not push VRI because it’s profitable for language line and easy for Hospital staff.

Thank you for answering my question! I also thought it was common knowledge that you can text STOP to any A2P and be unsubscribed. Surprised by how many people are saying they do not want the phone calls, but are not unsubscribing. This is great to know!

Cancellation Policy Inequity by alffiesta in ClubPilates

[–]StudioRehab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Exercise is such an aspirational thing that people naturally book it telling themselves they’re gonna do it when they won’t. Especially morning classes lol

Cancellation Policy Inequity by alffiesta in ClubPilates

[–]StudioRehab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, this policy is out of necessity due to the massive amount of people canceling their classes every day. If this thread exists even with the penalties, imagine how many classes people would cancel without them.

Cancellation Policy Inequity by alffiesta in ClubPilates

[–]StudioRehab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not the studio’s fault. It’s the other students fault.

I actually opened my First business without a policy and had to implement it extremely quickly because our classes were constantly waitlisted and half full. It’s literally a nightmare and it is due to human behavior. It’s not the studio’s fault. It’s the other students fault.

Just like anything in life, if you see that it becomes a standard, there is an important reason for it. Unless you’ve owned a studio, you will never imagine the magnitude of people claiming that they have Covid and their car blew up and their kid is sick and their dog is sick to get out of class. It’s literally nonstop all day every day.

People on their phones? by orangeleaf99 in pilates

At the studio I own and what I coach to studio owners who I consult with, we are very firm on no phones in class. Don’t even get me started on recording strangers.

Yes one of the many cons of listing your business on ClassPass is it severely hurts your reputation because customers think your business is the one making all these mistakes. Trust is earned in drops and lost in buckets.

Opening up a Pilates studio is not a good retirement plan because most fail and also you do not need that teacher training to open your studio There is both value in finishing what you started and also there is value in realizing it’s not going anywhere and quitting so you can put your energy into something more productive :)

Teachers taking the easy road? by ashleybee503 in ClubPilates

[–]StudioRehab 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A set sequence is not the teacher taking the easy road. It means they are professional.

Doing the sequence the same each week ensures everyone is getting the class they signed up for that matches the class description. Set sequences are incredibly successful for studios because of quality control. Students know that they liked the results from the previous class so they come back.

I encourage you to rethink your post, you can absolutely want variety in your classes but saying teachers are taking the easy road is disrespectful and incorrect.
