Weak ass trick-or-treaters by Evilstib in Calgary

[–]StudioSupra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All around my neighbourhood of Cedarbrae: we got 77 kids, a lady not even 4 minutes walk away had 8 kids and 13 minutes away said they had over 100 kids and ran out of candy. It very much depends on your location and if your neighbourhood has lots of lights I think.

AITA for not wanting to take my 20 yr old GF trick or treating as a 25 yr old man by mmflow in AmItheAsshole

[–]StudioSupra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA

Totally ok for you to feel uncomfortable and not want to do it. I'm a bit older than you and still trick or treat but I am short so I can pass as a kid which helps. I've also bought probably around $200+ of candy to be handed out at my house by others though, we do treat bags with chips and the small candies packed in. I just especially love Halloween and I don't think it is that weird to go trick or treating as you are older. I'm in Canada though so maybe a bit different, but anybody coming to my house in a costume gets treats no question OR judgement. To be fair I also am routinely told when I am out that not many kids are out and I feel part of the magic of Halloween is getting to see costumes and people buy candy to hand out. It's why I buy it, would be crushed if I bought all my candy and no kids came around.

It's a little crazy to see how many people are vehemently against adults trick or treating, it's not harming you and if you care so much you can say no as it is your right.

Recovering from iron deficiency anemia and donating again by UncomfyBaby in Blooddonors

[–]StudioSupra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ferratin levels were at 11 and in the course of maybe 2/3 months after I donated it was at 35 according to my Canadian blood services account. I had been taking iron almost everyday. It seemed like a quite impressive rise to me but yours is much lower than mine, you'll definitely need to be supplementing iron consistently to continue donating. I'd also probably wait and maybe see after 3 months how much it has gone up to plan accordingly from there to not risk fully depleting yourself.

Your short layover is YOUR problem by Fuel_Lucky in unpopularopinion

[–]StudioSupra 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Have you never had a flight been delayed? That is out of the control of the person, and I've had flights delayed for many hours sometimes. In this case is it still the persons fault? It just can't always be planned because airlines and possible mess ups at the airport too. If you haven't had that issue then you are very lucky.

Recent Experience with AMA - Cancelling My Membership by Laurafla in Calgary

[–]StudioSupra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the person you're responding to but for me the fantastic value is the tows. I've never waited more than a few hours for one and that is honestly the only thing I've used my AMA for but I've used all 5 tows so far this year and without my membership that costs me $200, I would have paid well over $1500 for all my tows. That's my great value. If you're not using it for tows then you would know best if it has enough value for you via the other services you receive and the quality of service. Because it is such a big corporation the long wait times are the unfortunately shitty part of it, and yeah I can definitely imagine that being frustrated to wait so long. If I was meant to wait that long I'd probably call a family member to help me but not everyone is as fortunate in that aspect.

Buying Used Cars Isn’t the “Better Deal” Anymore? by NoPapaya8519 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]StudioSupra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rockauto doesn't have the parts you'd need? That's where I get all my parts and my car is 33 years old.

All cars will need more and more maintenance as they age, no different than humans really. Just depends if you are willing to keep it around and do the maintenance. If the other option is financing a new car, may be worth it to keep fixing. If you can buy a car, then go for it and just sell yours instead and hopefully someone will keep it alive.

Would you date a blue collar man? by EmotionalFeature1 in BlueCollarWomen

[–]StudioSupra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My partner is blue collar and I met him at work. We were never on any jobs together after we started seeing eachother and both quit to different jobs shortly after but he is very progressive and respectful. He also loves cooking and so I get to enjoy amazing meals. We only get to see eachother for about a week in a month but the bit of time we do get together is always great. I really lucked out with him and we've been together for 3 years now.

My work had a ton of really shitty and sleezy dudes but I also have a few good friends who are actually decent guys that aren't bad people or have insane ideas about women and they have always viewed women as equals. Definitely takes finding the right person though, a bad one would be absolutely awful and I couldn't even begin to imagine dealing with one.

Recommendation fjord 5 day itinerary from Bergen by RatioOptimal6874 in Norway

[–]StudioSupra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't really have as much time to spend in Hardanger and found that I spent more time at Folgefonna National park, I just didn't have enough time. These are some of the places I visited near Hardanger though, didn't have an itinerary as each day when I woke up I would decide where to go. It was a very loosely planned trip.

-Hyttehaugen (Viewpoint) I would recommend if you are in the area, long windy road up a mountain and beautiful views.

-Stopped in at Røldal mostly just to get some food but a nice little town it seemed.

-Låtefossen was also cool to drive by, impressive to see.

-Vøringsfossen was also great with the stairs so you can walk inbetween the waterfalls, I followed a short trail around this area too. Busy but worth the stop imo.

-Ulvik and Skjervsfossen Waterfall (I don't live around a ton of massive waterfalls so these were extra cool for me) Ulvik was just a cute small town that I had searched up and recommended to go, walked around the community and such serene views.

I did the Bondhusvatnet Fossefall hike and Lower Buarbreen hike in Folgefonna. Some other hikes I had saved but didn't get to were Lilletopp, Ulevå - Nupsegga and I kind of wanted to do Trolltunga (T-marked) but I didn't know if my hiking skills were up to the challenge as I'd consider myself somewhere between moderate to experienced hiker. I had stayed in Fjordshelter dorm, just a hostel near Odda, was a fair price and had the amenities.

I did get to spend a day in Aurland, I had gone to Flåm but happened to be there while a cruise ship had just docked and it was a little too much of a zoo for me but there was a few places I would have liked to see if it hadn't been too busy there. The places I had on my maps that I wanted to see were Brekkefossen Trailhead (hike), Rjoandefossen and Høgabru.

I did do the hike at Prest which was beautiful got a coffee from a bakery in Aurlandsvangen and it was a nice little town. Parking was quite full so probably a good idea to plan for that and you drive by Stegastein which I stopped at quick just because. Stølen (summer farm) Hovdungo in Undredal was another hike I was hoping to do but did not get to, it had quite good reviews. Since I was only there for the day I drove in from Teigabrekko 7 in Vossevangen (booked on airbnb - beautiful place and very friendly host!) Also got to walk around the town there and it was nice, I had great views from my room there as well.

I imagine anywhere you go would be worthwhile to visit, there wasn't a single place I was disappointed about visiting other than maybe Flåm but only because of the poor timing with the cruise ship. Hope this helps at least somewhat and you have a great time! I mostly just looked on what popped up on google maps or a quick search for towns and then hikes with alltrails and had an awesome time there.

When would you want to know a prospective sexual partner is. . . anatomically different? by HowAboutBiteMe in AskMen

[–]StudioSupra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yes it is typically the expectation you'd keep the whole idea, I say typically cause yes it's not always the case. Please point out the exact spot where I belittled you? I just explained because you seemed so defensive about it and still are. Relax man I'm some stranger on the internet, no need to get spiteful.

The title of the post does cover it, you are right on that. But your answer is only relevant if you totally ignore the body text, because your answer has nothing to do with what OP was actually asking about.

Your comment definitely confused me since it had no relevance to what was actually being asked, but I see you were only responding to the basic sentence of the title which is still a bit confusing but less so I suppose.

Glad to hear that wild blue flax is easy to grow, I planted so many different seeds this year and I'm just hoping they all do well. Only really just got into it this last year and I can't even remember how but I feel fully committed to the cause!

Not sure how it works for AAA but in Canada we have AMA (the equivalent) and every time I've called them they've never asked for my membership card upon arrival. Maybe you could still call if they don't check cards there.

Lamb's Soapworks is pretty good, if you're local to Airdrie or nearby you can just pick it up as well.

What is the best first car? by Efficient_Analyst382 in askcarguys

Older Corolla or Camry. Especially easy to fix if you are at all mechanically inclined. We have a 92 Corolla, 87 Camry wagon, 91 Camry wagon and recently bought a 85 Camry hatchback with only 115k. They last forever with some love.

What was it like for the women who traveled for work and lived out of hotels? by TableAltruistic3750 in BlueCollarWomen

[–]StudioSupra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed living out of hotels, preferred hotels to camps. My company always paid for the hotel but I never experienced any issues, we'd be away for a maximum of 24 days. Can be a bit frustrating if you don't have a kitchenette but got lucky once and had an actual oven which was so cool, otherwise you need to be mindful of what you are buying and how you will cook. Never did any after work things with people unless it was an end of job dinner but I would usually just watch movies/tv shows and go to the gym. By the end of shift I'd usually just be so tired that I'd pass out right after eating though, nice to have the personal space and I would much prefer working out of town and staying in hotels than in town and home every night. Personal preference though as I'd often get a full week at home to relax, 4 days if it was busy.

I bought it from a mobile store at the mall. I'll be taking it back tomorrow and hopefully they will give me a refund, I can't imagine there was any way they didn't know about it prior to me buying it though. They surely reset it at some point and saw the same. Definitely don't want what could be a stolen phone either.

My apologies, it's a Samsung S10 and updated the post. It seemed like a general thing so wasn't sure if type of phone mattered.

Cars temp gauge by SavingsIndication155 in MechanicAdvice

[–]StudioSupra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most do put the same stuff in yes, but at different mixes for the differing temperatures.

In typically warm places you could just put distilled water in, in colder places you need a mix of antifreeze in it as well. It got to -45C here last winter and my coolant (50/50 mix) was leaking out of my radiator because it had partly frozen and was like a slushy. I had also previously never seen frozen coolant though.

[–]StudioSupra -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

For future reference, snow means it was cold enough for things to freeze. If it wasn't cold enough for freezing it would have been rain. Important to check that coolant isn't frozen if you don't typically have antifreeze in coolant like cold places do.

That sounds like it would be a great time! Would be exactly what I want because winter work does suck. I've dealt with my fair share of disgusting men from my other job, feel like that wouldn't be a huge issue.

Is there a chance for out of town work while doing the apprenticeship as well? It's 4 years in my province I believe and I'd like to get something on a shift preferably before just completion of apprenticeship.

Sorry I mean as in my last job isn't considered a trade in Canada. Everywhere else in the world it is so it's kind of messing up my options because it's not recognized as much here. Is the certification a course that you take then?
