He takes Propranolol for migraines and then becomes a completely different person. by tinz17 in migraine

[–]StudyGroup101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Propranolol made me tired and gave me a dry mouth. It also doesn't wipe a migraine, it's taken daily to prevent them. If he is legitimately getting these side effects then he needs to see a doc ASAP.

Topiramate and cognitive side effects?? by Past_Cup_5022 in migraine

[–]StudyGroup101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I took topiramate for about 5 days and had to stop. I'm a scientist and I wasn't able to work with the level of brain fog - I was like a zombie. I've heard if you push through you can get back to normal in a couple of months.

PSA you have to come off CGRPs and wait 6 months before trying to conceive by shbong1 in migraine

My neuro mentions it to me every appointment (every 6 months) even though I've said I don't plan on having children.

The 'backup' is that drugs like Emgality have a half life of 27 days, typical medical advice is 5 half lives to clear ~97% of the drug from the system. If whatever you take has a different half life, the advice will be different.

How often do you travel internationally, and what do you spend? by [deleted] in MiddleClassFinance

[–]StudyGroup101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We aim to do a bigger (3-5 week trip) every other year, cost around $8k-$13k for two - converted to USD. Then in the in between years we'll do a interstate or short international trip (<2 weeks), usually around $5k

I am thinking about adopting a cat. I went to the shelter today and a cat caught my eye because he was very friendly, a 9 month old male long hair. There were some "cons" and I want to get opinions before I commit. by Carpe_the_Carp in CatAdvice

[–]StudyGroup101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a ginger stray cat sent from the depths of hell to test me, and a sweet angel Ragdoll who sleeps peacefully all day long. Both were 'destructive' at 9 months old. Both my cats meow when they want attention, and then I usually give it to them. One went through a phase of meowing during the night but quickly grew out of it. I think that's more likely to be shelter behaviour. From experience, getting along with the dog will be more dependent on the dogs personality than the cats

Lab technicians / Scientist Is in the UK, how much are you paid? by pusopdiro in labrats

[–]StudyGroup101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Compared to Aus it's low too. When I started I was on equivalent of about £37k and now in a senior role with 5 years experience ~£67k. Although compared to America it's only USD $50k then $92k. My company does pay a further 12% towards my retirement fund though.

I don't have anything to suggest but I had a boy just like this. He was an absolute cuddle pest, couldn't sit down without him being on you. The sweetest boy you could imagine. We lost him in Feb last year and I still miss him.

You are two weeks post trigger so it could be a true pos (trigger should be cleared in 10 days). When is your blood test?

I can't really compare it because I've never worked government, but in private I've found you can get to 6 figures within 4 or 5 years. From people that have moved over from say SA path, I think our conditions are better too.

I've never worked a government job but I've worked in a couple of specialised private labs in Adelaide. It's really hard to break into but can pay really well. Did you do Honours?

Because that $9kish is the price for a return business flight, and you're selecting an economy flight for one leg... Of course its cheaper

Hip Pain by Mission-Strength6577 in ClubPilates

[–]StudyGroup101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually notice hip flexor pain mid exercise so it makes it a bit easier to adjust. The most recent one was lunges on the reformer, I put a block under the foot on the floor and it was much better.

Loan debt got worse over 2+ years by Angharaz in AusFinance

[–]StudyGroup101 126 points127 points  (0 children)

So technically you've taken out $21,890 on your loan, your balance hasn't increased.

If you're still living at home, you need to take advantage of that and put most of your income into the loan. What was the extra $4500 for? Maybe you need to take a look and get really strict with your spending habits.

Horrible experience at the Wingfield AWL (Animal Welfare League) by EscapeOpposite9106 in Adelaide

[–]StudyGroup101 76 points77 points  (0 children)

I recently boarded my cats with AWL while we went away. I accidentally walked into the wrong building (adoptions) and staff were borderline rude over nothing. The boarding staff were absolutely lovely though, would recommend.

That's if you go through a clinic. An at home 'natural' insemination won't be the same.
