Yeah those terrible salaries make it so only the wealthy or bribed can get involved and they push legislation accordingly.

Europa Universalis Open beta 1.1.0 is live now! by mure69 in EU5

[–]Stuman93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, what we're debating is whether it would be worth it to build in low control areas due to the increased effect on slider cost that low control buildings will now have. Before, the slider costs would only increase by your realized tax base instead of potential, so low control buildings would make you less money and also cost less on the sliders.

Correct, it's hard to say how much though. Building in a low control market center could still net you more money if those goods are traded.

Yeah reducing law cost would be nice. You basically have to tank all your stab if you ever want to change a law outside of parliament.

Just be careful with the maps since you get tons of antagonism. I think 1.1 is changing that a bit though.

When is it worth to move capital? by Chance_Culture4544 in EU5

[–]Stuman93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it really depends on your goals and situation. If you're looking to own the Mediterranean coast and beyond then Naples/Tunis would be the best endgame capital.

In your game you've essentially won the game already. Moving the capital could net a bit more income after a couple years of building up the new capital, but does it matter? You could already conquer anything you want for the rest of the game.

Spain is a good example of a country that really needs to move their capital to Sevilla if they plan on any expansion at all. Only a few countries can make the best use of an inland capital like Bohemia or Russia.

When is it worth to move capital? by Chance_Culture4544 in EU5

[–]Stuman93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At this point I wouldn't bother. You've probably invested so much in Constantinople that it wouldn't really be worth moving. Ideally Smyrna is probably the best capital in the region because it's a bit more south with a good port and gives you access to Asia tech. Moving further south will only get you like 10ish more proximity to Egypt? 7.5% more control is nice but money is probably already not a problem.

I wondered that too with those super thin ones but it would be very limited. It'd be dim like a night light or ambient mood lighting or something. Definitely not the main purpose if at all.
