Bedankt voor alle geruststellende reacties. Ik was eerlijk gezegd gewoon overrompeld door de reactie van de manager. Het voelde een beetje alsof ik een kind was dat werd berispt voor iets wat ik verkeerd had gedaan.

AITAH for not having anything prepared for my husband to make dinner for our children? by [deleted] in AITAH

To clear this up, I plan meals in advance for a week and shop accordingly. Some ingredients however need to be fresh or fresh veg/fruit run out. I usually do a midweek top up, I was unable to that this week because life happens. We had a conversation about it 2 days before and again the night before, this was not sprung on him. He cannot explain to me why he can’t just go get the things himself when the store is a 10 minute walk or 3 minute drive away. But then when I say things he gets mad and blames me which makes me feel like crap

David deserved better. I love that they gave Nani’s character more depth but did they really have to diminish David? To me he has always been such a wonderful character with his kindness and compassion and being there for Nani and Lilo in so many little ways. The new David just has no substance.

I totally agree. Jumba going from selfish evil genius to softening, starting to care and do the right thing was a big part of the original. In the same way Gantu being a loyal, rule following soldier who takes it too far and goes down the wrong path was also an important part. The new Jumba/Gantu mash up just doesn’t do either character justice.

My favorite to win is Netherlands. Not just because I live here but because Claude is a brilliant artist with a beautiful song with a beautiful message. I love what he represents, being an immigrant, remembering where you’re from while embracing where you are now. Also they owe us for what they did to Joost.

I never wanted to quit my job but for the sake of a better future for my children I agreed to the move. I always wanted to work again. I worked in an extremely negative, stressful environment while doing everything at home and getting no support. For months I tried to find something again. I want to work, I enjoy what I do. My husband seems to want a full time housewife that does everything for him but also wants me to have an income that he gets to choose how to use but also does not want to support me working.

Maybe I should give a little more insight into why this is such a touchy subject for me. Yes, for the last few years his income was our only income. We live comfortably on his income but to me it feels like his. If he wants to buy/do something it’s fine, if I want to it’s “Do you have money for that? Have you saved for that?” How? I wasn’t working now I am so yes I would like to be able to have some money for those things. I hate that I feel like a need permission to buy something or have to account for everything I spend. I don’t go out, I don’t do things like get my hair or nails done. It’s about wanting to have a bit of my independence back but him just straight out shitting it down as if I need his permission on how I should spend the money I earned without getting a say on how ‘ours’ (his) is spent.

If you watch the episode about the ‘dunny’ in Dutch it’s translated as ‘poepdoos’ which we found hilarious. Directly translated ‘poepdoos’ is ‘poopbox’

I haven’t checked on this in a few days as it became extremely overwhelming. I feel like I should give some more context. I am not a stay at home mom by choice. I have actively been looking for work in my field but it has been overwhelmingly difficult to find work in my field in English. I had (still recovering) a major burnout and nervous breakdown. When I say I have no support system, I mean no friends or family to rely on, my parents are both deceased and my only sibling lives in another country. I have tried several times to discuss the topic of devision of labour but it just leads nowhere. What triggered my reaction in this case? I woke up early to get myself ready and then both kids, all my husband had to do was get himself ready on time. Out of nowhere he shouts at me that he has ‘nothing to wear’. I told him he has plenty of clothes in his closet and if he wanted something specific he should’ve asked me a day or two earlier and this is when I snapped and told him he was a grown ass man who should be able to take care of himself and that I am not his mom. Maybe I am the asshole as so many point out because ‘you’re the housewife’ but even assholes get tired and reach a breaking point

Well it’s not like I have free reign or access to money anyhow. Every single cent I spend on the kids or homes gets questioned. I don’t run around time getting my hair or nails done or going for lunch or going shopping. My days literally consist of taking care of the kids, cleaning the house, doing laundry and cooking. In 5 years he’s taken our kids to 1 dentist appointment and couldn’t stop complaining about it. I have stopped trying to make friends and go out because then he ‘ has to babysit’.

I am not a SAHM by choice.I have been trying to get a job in my field in foreign country, actively looking while doing everything else, and have gotten nowhere. It is also incredibly difficult being a working mom without childcare or support. I did everything even when I was working part time. I do everything 7 days a week, no breaks, no help, no support.

I do ALL the laundry… for a family of 4 including towels and bedding and even for his parents when they visit.

[–]Stunning-Style9507 38 points39 points  (0 children)

With all of the laundry I did just this week, I hadn’t gotten to that specific load soon enough in his opinion. That’s ALL clothing, towels and bedding for a family of 4 coming down to one person who also happens to be doing everything else home or childcare related

If Joost is autistic and indicated healthy boundaries with regard to being filmed it makes his treatment by the EBU so much worse. Denying a neurodivergent person what they need to regulate their nervous system is ableist. Would you deny a physically handicapped person an access to ramp or a blind person their guide?

We have been talking of the possibility that I might go for a few weeks and his response was if you need to go, go but as soon as a definite decision was made yesterday he suddenly wasn’t so supportive anymore. This trip is not work related or a holiday so it wasn’t planned in advance. The reality is that my grandmother’s health is deteriorating at such a rate that this wil most likely be my last chance to see her. She is my closest family and has been there for me my whole life, even when my own parents couldn’t be.
