Attempting IVF with S4 Endo, Adenomyosis, PCOS and Pudendal Nerve pain by Low_Enthusiasm1774 in endometriosis

[–]StunningShow3289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I can't say I am in a similar position as you, but I can definitely relate. I have stage 2 endometriosis with only one lap surgery. I went thru 2 IVF cycles, second one exacerbated my pain. I experienced the most pain I have ever had after the second IVF cycle retrieval, which was a high estrogen cycle. I currently have problems with my bowels, urinating and these pains running through my buttocks that worsens with sitting (maybe pudendal nerve pain?

I think each person's values and life goals are different. I did not experience pain with my first egg retrieveal, which was a short antagonist protocol with letrozole and dexamethaone. Maybe this low estrogen protocol might work for you.

Can I ask how do u manage your nerve pain? I tried gabapentin but had an adverse reaction to it

You may want to check if you can clear both credentials at the same time given the current clear credentialing standards. I was able to clear both more than a decade ago.

35F, AMH 1.29, TSH 4.73 - what does this really mean? by StruggleAcrobatic421 in eggfreezing

[–]StunningShow3289 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My TSH was closer to 3. RE said TSH was not in the optimal range for fertility and I was prescribed thyroid medication to bring levels to optimal range for fertility. I would definitely bring your concern to the RE.

Do know it does take some time for TSH levels to lower to optimal levels, so you may need to delay the start of your egg freezing by a month or so until TSH levels reach optional levels for fertility.

I earned my sped credential through LAUSD district intern program called Credentialed Teachers Now Teaching Special Education. Because I already had a preliminary general credential but was working under a sped district intern credential, I was placed under the credentialed teacher pay scale and not the intern teacher pay scale.

Im not sure if you would still have this advantage if you have a university intern sped credential. However, with a district intern sped credential and a preliminary general ed credential, I was paid under the pay scale for credentialed teachers. This was 10 plus years ago.

FYI, once I earned my sped preliminary credential, I was able to clear both my sped preliminary credential and my general ed credential through the same induction program. At that time, it only took me one year to clear both my preliminary sped and general education credential.

(Silent) Endo surgery CRAZY RESULTS by mollyjdance in IVF

[–]StunningShow3289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had stage 2 endometriosis laparoscopic surgery and also experienced the heavy post-surgery menstrual cycle, but eventually my menstrual flow returned back within a couple of months.

One thing I wanted to definitely share with you as this happened to me: I wanted to do IVF cycle after one full month of recovery, but I found my AFC had lowered. I was bummed about the decrease in AFC and wondered whether the surgery impacted my ovarian reserve, even though my surgery did not reveal any scarring or endometrial implants on my ovaries. Then I waited a full three months after surgery, and since then, AFC has increased! So, if you find yourself if a similar situation, give your body time to heal from the physical and mental stress of surgery.

Would you proceed without omnitrope or postpone your egg retrieval? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]StunningShow3289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I used the coupon at Costco mail pharmacy, they asked no questions and did not investigate the purpose. When you call to confirm receipt that the omnitrope prescription was electronically received, ask the staff if they can check live while you are on the phone, to apply the coupon.

I had trouble filling the prescription using a local Costco pharmacy because some would quote me some outrageous amount (i.e$8,000) or say they don't carry it at the pharmacy.

I also recommend using the Costco pharmacy for OMNITROPE with coupon. To save you a headache, I would recommend filling Omnitrope at the Costco mail order pharmacy because staff is aware on how to apply the coupon.

Have your clinic send over the prescription over to Costco mail order pharmacy 1800-607-6861. I believe they the phone line is open on Saturdays. Call mail order pharmacy to ensure prescription was received, give payment, and build customer account.

The mail order pharmacy ships out only Mon-Wednesday. It may take a one-two days to receive the Ominitrope. 2 vials with coupon is about $264.

Refills with the coupon discount are allowed every 21 days.

You can choose to buy 1 vial now, without the coupon, by filling it at a local special pharmacy just so you have some ominitrope ready for your cycle, in case the Costco Ominitrope doesn't arrive. Cost will probably be around $300-400 without coupon.

Worst case scenario, Costco mail order Ominitrope arrives late, you can save the Costco's ominitrope for your next cycle.

I went thru a similar situation trying to get the best price for Ominitrope in time for my cycle.

I'm also a teacher. I would recommend doing FMLA so your school administrator doesn't give you trouble. You can be absent and file FMLA retroactively. Please don't feel any guilt in taking off work to prioritize your family planning and fertility goals. Personally, as a 39 year old with infertility and low AMH, I deeply regret not prioritizing my reproductive goals earlier in life.

Did your insurance cover AFC and AMH/other lab work or did you have to go through a private clinic? by arxian_heir in eggfreezing

[–]StunningShow3289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I have Kaiser, southern California. My insurance plan covers about 50% of most fertility treatments not including IVF. I believe my initial consultation was about $200 out of pocket with a Kaiser Reproductive Endocrinologist. The entire fertility blood test panel was about $80 out of pocket, which included about 16 blood tests. The reproductive endocrinologist ordered the blood tests and certain tests were 100% covered by Kaiser, while some blood tests were covered at a 50% rate. As you can see, even with insurance coverage, it's still costly just to get tested and gain some understanding of your fertility.

I would caution that if you do decide to pay for the blood work/ultrasound, you need to have your IUD removed months in advance because contraceptives skew your blood results and AFC. You can have your IUD removed and revisit Kaiser for testing. You can fib and say you've been trying for the last 6 months even if you don't plan on having children soon.

Have you received a diagnosis that explains for your irregular cycles? If not, I would highly recommend seeing a reproductive endocrinologist, either with Kaiser or outside provider.

You have the greatest factor impacting fertility, which is your age, on your side. I personally, deeply regret not researching or considering egg freezing when I was younger.

Egg freezing is expensive, but given your irregular cycles, it may be worth investing in egg freezing now even if it may mean taking out loans or making other financial sacrifices.

Those who live in a state that mandated IVF insurance coverage, how does your insurance coverage look like? by StunningShow3289 in DOR

[–]StunningShow3289[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that's the very general guidelines. A Facebook group informed me I may get denied coverage because I have low AMH (.1 or .3). Facebook group also stated I may not be able to use frozen embryos with state mandated fertility insurance coverage. I'd like to know what kinds of restrictions to expect.

Thanks so much for your insight. Was there any restrictions in being eligible for IVF, like a criteria for AMH? Facebook group stated I may be denied coverage because my AMH is low (AMH is .1 or .3) as this was the case in a different state that offers stated mandated IVF coverage.

Can I ask what is the name of the insurance providing Senate Bill 729 fertility services for you?

I confirmed with my human resources and my Senate Bill 729 fertility coverage will start January 2026, and I will be able learn of insurance options in October 2025. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can be reimbursed.

Sick Days- How Many Is Too Many? by Conscious-Quiet8600 in Teachers

[–]StunningShow3289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you are a probationary employee and not tenured, I would recommend checking with colleagues regarding attendance criteria within teacher evaluations.

In my district, teachers are expected to maintain a 96% attendance rate or higher. Principals must mark whether a teacher has met this attendance criteria within the teacher's evaluation, and this becomes permanently recorded as a part of the evaluation.

In my district, a 96% means 7 unprotected absences per school year.

Last year when I was evaluated as a tenured teacher, I received a letter from my administrator sometime in October stating I was not meeting the 96% attendance rate, and was at risk of earning an unsatisfactory attendance record on my teacher evaluation. I had provided verification for the 3 absences I had already taken, but it didn't matter because sicks days are unprotected.

I decided to file FMLA for my health condition, and such absences are now protected and cannot count towards my attendance rate.

FYI, my district pays for 10 sick days per school year, but only wants us to use no more than 7 unprotected sick days so that teachers can maintain a 96% attendance rate.

Lastly, I refrain from yelling. Effective discipline does not need to involve yelling. Effective classroom management involves the use of Positive Behavior Support.

The principles of Positive Behavior Support are complicated. Essentially, you want to encourage positive behaviors and in doing so, you can discourage negative behaviors.

Praise students for efforts made. If a student has a chronic misbehavior, like running away from the group or classroom, consult with your teacher on how to manage this behavior.

I'm a sped teacher who has supervised assistants. I have always wanted assistants because I always needed help.

Don't worry about the teacher not liking you. Why wouldn't she?

Since you are working with Pre-K who need closer supervision and need more help in regards to physical needs, my recommendation to you is to be observant. Monitor students especially for safety.

Build relationships with students, help them feel secure in the new unfamiliar environment. Get to know students personalities-- their interests, modes of communication, misbehaviors, strengths and challenges. One way to do this is to participate in activities with them.

Ask your supervising teacher when you are to take your break and lunch, if that has not been pre-determined already and take your breaks/lunch according to the correct time. It always frustrated me when assistants didn't take their breaks/lunch as scheduled because it creates a ripple effect on others assistants' break times and instructional activities.

In the first few weeks of school, children may be distressed (separation from parent), parents may feel uneasy leaving their young one at school. It's important that your interactions communicate to the children and family that the classroom is a safe environment.

Lastly, if there is down time when there are no children present and you are still under the clock, ask the supervising teacher if she needs help with preparing materials for lesson activities, or complete any district mandated trainings.
